Just ordered a Starter Kit....opinions?

So, I just ordered the Innova Starter Kit 160 class....that refers to weight yes? I thought since Kelly (the fiancee) is supposedly going to join me in this blissful activity that a medium weight would be better...



what do you think of this kit as a starter...it came with five discs, and the lightning bag small for 50 bucks, I had to get a second putter since it only came with one.....please give me your opinions...I really am not a big fan *yet* of discs that don't fly straight.

Discs are either stable (straight/goes where you throw it), overstable (big natural curve), or understable (goes opposite your natural curve).

Lighter discs tend to be less stable.

Heavier discs tend to be more stable.

Gotta throw 'em all - practice in a big open field and get to know them before you need accuracy from them on a course.

I'd say get a Firebird, Roc, Stingray, and Aviar.

Yeah, throw Gateway on holes on which you can lose a disc (or be like Jay and throw 'em at oncoming traffic)......

I just don't throw Gateway because of their relationship with duPont.

Acctually Jimbo, I threw an Innova Beast(Ice Bowl Stamp) into the cars window. And during our round where I tried to do it again, it was the same DX Beast.

...and double reverse that if you're throwing left hand forehand.

What Jim said. Except for the Firebird part. That's a lot of disc for a beginner. An Eagle will be good 'nuff for a left fade/wind disc for starters. The Roc will be straight. The Stingray, once broken in, will "turn" for you.

"Natural curve" means opposite your throwing hand. If you are right handed and throw back hand (across your body) the disc will naturally fade left at the end of the flight. Reverse that if you are left handed.

Conversely, if you throw right handed fore hand (ie, side arm, or outside of your body frame) it will naturally fade right (reverse again for left).



A disc that "turns" means it will turn opposite (mostly opposite) the direction of your "natural fade". A well broken in Stingray or Leopard will eventually start turning to the right for you if you throw right hand back hand. (reverse that for left hand or forehand).
