so what can I expect from an Innova kit containing an aviar putter, eagle, stingray, cheetah, and shark....?

what differences will I see from a 170 to a 160?  I think I'm about to be unhappy with my starter kit, but the discs are traditionally straight fliers, yes?

any specific information regarding what I can expect with this specific weight/disc combo is appreciated.....

Chris, Great to see you on the message board come on out to Sunday Leagus sometime. As someone already said the lowers get paired with the uppers pretty much making things fair for everyeone. Ohh, btw Hi my names Jay.

Okay as for differences you will see. If your new to the game or don't have a lot of power lower weight discs are your friend as they are easier to control. This has its trade offs though. I lighter disc will fly farther with a tail wind, but a heavier disc will cut through a headwind, leaves better.

As for what weights you will acctually get in the kit not sure.

As far as being unhappy with what ya get well heres a few ideas. Throw a few rounds with it and if you decide you don't like you can sell them to Play It Again Sports and buy new discs there, you get something like 3 dollars store credit for a new disc, OR Join the DISContinuum!!!! For a $15 membership you get one free disc, and then the ability to order discs through the club. We have sweet deals with various sponsors and get discs VERY cheap!

See ya out there, and have fun!!!

Chris to start, if Im not in Champaign this weekend I would love to throw with you Saturday morning. Now on to your question yes you can get a disc to go left, straight or right.

For a RHBH (right hand back hand throw) a disc(any disc) will want to tail off to the left at the end of the flight. Certain discs though will want to go the left more, while other discs will have an easier time going right. The harder you throw a disc the more it wants to go straight or in the case of an understabe disc to the  right.

Now the way though you can make a shark go any which way you want it to is like this. Im going to use characters to represent   the way the disc should look as it leaves your hand.

Straight  --   The disc should be parallel to the ground

Hyzer(to the left)  /   Thats an extreme example but the edge of the disc away from your hand should be lower to the ground than the edge in your hand

Anhyzer(to the right)   \   Again an extreme example, but the edge of the ddisc away from your hand should be higher than the edge of the disc in your hand.

Hope that helps and always feel free to ask question :-)

Of those discs, the Shark, Aviar and Stingray will be the straightest flyers for a new player throwing backhand with average power.  The Eagle and Cheetah will fly farther when you learn to throw with more than average power.

If you are new to the game, here's some good advice that top pros like Ken Climo and Ron Russell tell new players:  "Put away all of those except the Shark (they'd say Roc or Comet, but you have a Shark and its the same kind of disc).  Learn to throw the Shark.  When you can curve it to the right, curve it to the left and throw it down the middle, then try those drivers."

A lot of players slow down their development by trying to learn how to throw too many different discs.  Or, they try to find a different disc for every throw, rather than learning how to throw.

If you go look at the What's in Your Bag thread you'll see that the highest rated Discontinuum members who have posted there (Shawn, myself and Brett) are carrying the fewest molds in their bag but multiples of the molds they've learned how to throw.

for the tips....OK, so here's a stupid question....

you can get a stable (or under or over) disc to tail EITHER way?  AND straight?
