Kira won on a playoff in Rec and Becky finished 5th against 12 competitors.  Diana won in women's intermediate.  Kelsey finished second in women's advanced.  The winner in advanced was also a junior girl.  So they are all coming home carrying their shields, not being carried on them!   8)

All of the Texas clubs donated a few discs to the tournament, and when a lot of groups give a little for a tournament that only has 50 or 60 players, it really adds up.  Player packs and payouts were awesome.  The TD has a lot to learn about running tournaments, but he and his volunteers were generous and hospitable.

Nice job all!  I didn't think that there was a junior girl even close to Kelsey let alone many amatuer women players.

There are two junior girls who are better and two more who are close, plus a couple who were better before they dropped out of the game to focus on scholarship sports.  But they are scattered all over the country and don't get to Worlds and USWDGC.  So there are probably a lot more that we don't know about.

Kelsey isn't the Slayer.  She's just one of the potentials.

Willow took care of that, though. They're all Slayers now!!! :icon_rendeer:

We played Flip City and the Ludington courses this weekend.  Kelsey wanted Uncle Jon especially to know that she beat me straight up on the Beauty.  Kelsey shot a great round for Kelsey, approximately 907 rated and I had trouble finding those spaces of air between the rows of trees on the short, narrow holes.  Kelsey shot par and I was 2 over.  For those who don't know, the Beauty is a short course for righty sharp shooters.

Kelsey did NOT beat me at Flip City, or on the Beast or on Goliath.  She had numerous 300 foot measured drives on the long holes on those courses.  Off the big hill on the Baest #1 we drove side by side to the base of the next hill, which is as far as I have ever thrown on that hole.  At the Beast and the Goliath there are now a couple of holes with rocks marking 300, 400 and 500 feet and Kelsey was next to a 300 rock at least once.

The game we've been playing lately at courses with longs and shorts is Kelsey gets shorts and I get righty longs or lefty shorts.  On holes with only one tee, it is my option.  Kensington has 18 holes with long and short tees and six holes with just one tee.  Playing this game I usually throw 12 to 16 lefty drives, depending on the wind direction.

Last week Kelsey and I both shot par.  I've shot the shorts lefty at -4 so par was not too impressive.  Kelsey's best shorts round is under, but I'm not sure if it is -1 or -2.

Today Kira and Diana joined us so we let them play as a best shot team from the shorts.  They were -5, I was -4 and Kelsey was +1.  She had a sleep over Friday night and was still not caught up on her sleep.
