Bruce Brakel

A TD can decline to offer divisions if he has advertised it.  Gary advertises that the Sunday divisions are pro and advanced.  Four recreational rated players could not force him to offer recreational on Sunday.  50 recreational players attending the next IOS could change his mind.

No matter how many tournaments you play, PDGA membership is still a good value.  For your $40 you get the $5 off your entry, PDGA points [Milwaukee Worlds 2007 means get your points in 2006], ratings, the subscription to DGWN, and the most charming Executive Assistant in all of organized sports.  And remember, it is the existence of PDGA ratings that makes it possible for us to sort players by skill so that the lower divisions are mostly bagger-free.

I only have a few minutes. I finally got on the PC here in NC. I can tell you I am in no way interested in running tournaments in the Joliet area. I doubt Bruce & Jon are interested as well. I can only take traveling that far a few times a year. Rockford was well worth the trip but I don't think i'd do it more than once a year.

I also find it funny about the boycott stuff. People act like they own the public parks that we play in. PLEASE, someone come & run a sanctioned tournament at any course in my area. I love to play tournaments. I would much rather just play then do all this work. That's why we started to run them in the first place. No one else was.

I've enjoyed the Joliet players that have come to our events. I've gotten to know a few of the Joliet guys. I always ask them for feedback. They seem to enjoy the events because they keep coming back. This is not a battle of north & south. It's all fun & disc golf is fun.

QuoteI too am a Joliet player and I personally find it very disheartening that all of you people are dissing a PDGA Hall of Famer. I think that it is rediculous that some of you people are bitching that an Intermediate tournament is not sanctioned. I'm sorry but if you don't like it, then don't come.

Check the PDGA Tour page & do an advanced search for all IL tournies. The results for West Park (6-12) & Mokena (7-10) are still not posted. Rod Fritz, Jon Brakel, & Brian Cummings have been able to get results in . Why not Gary?

It costs Gary nothing to sanction the lower divisions if he is already sanctioning an event that weekend. It does however cost $2.00 PDGA fee per player for a C-Tier but that comes out of each players entry fee anyway.

Why can't I bitch that they are not sanctioned? What gives you (Pro) the right over Amateur players to play sanctioned tournaments? I pay my $40.00 a year for a PDGA Membership.

I agree Gary does a whole lot & he is respected for what he has done in Joliet. Now that there is competition with Cummings & Brakel, the standards are starting to get higher for amateur events. They are offering a service that I like. I just wish Gary would too.
