Has anyone used the Skill Shot and the Discatcher Sport?  I found the skill shot for $119 shipped and the discatcher for $170 shipped.  Quite a bit of difference in price so feedback is appreciated.  Does the Skill Shot stay upright?  From the pictures I have seen it doesn't look very stable.

the skill shot is very stable. we've used them in tournaments before. Never tried the sportcatcher.

One plus about the skill shot is that its extremely portable. folds up like a camp chair & its decently light.

club members can get skill shots for $20+ less than the price you posted.... 20 if one in the order, more than 20 off if 3+ are ordered. :)

I have had a Skill Shot for about four months.  I am very happy with it.  Is it more tippy than a discatcher?  Of course it is.  However, it is pretty sturdy; it is cheaper and best of all..it is very very portable.  I have stuck it in my trunk to bring to a local park and create my own holes.  I easily set it up in my back or front yard.  When the weather is lousy (most of the time recently) I have it set up in my garage.  I go to throw the newspaper in my recycling bin and take a couple of putts before I go back into the house.   :)

I have played with a Skill Shot, and i think the M14 portable basket.  The Skill Shot is suprisingly stable and catches discs very well, but the target is a little smaller than a normal basket.  I like, it, it makes for good practice and regular baskets seem huge after you practice on a Skill Shot for a while.  The M14 looked great and was really stable, and was just about regular size, but spit out discs like crazy.  You had to hit it perfectly to get it to stick.  I am also curious to see how good the Discatcher sport is.  I want to get a portable basket, I am leaning towards a Skill Shot just because I know how good it is, its the most portable, and its cheap.

I'll have to PM you when I get back home. I'm out of town until Sunday.

if I remember correctly, club member pricing on one basket is around $100 and 2 or more is 90... They may be a little more due to shipping, I dunno... Again, the price sheet isn't with me.

I really can't add much more than the others have already stated, but, I do love my skillshot. It's a very easy set up and very portable. I take it with me to tailgates at football games. It's definitely more fun that tossing a football back and forth. And,  the whole time I'm practicing putting. The price is right too. A friend of mine has the discatcher. it's a good basket also. It seems a little tougher to break down and set up and doesn't seem to store as easily. The discatcher definitely looks more like your traditional basket though, if that would matter to you.

I have used both.  We run a temporary league on Skill Shots and Travellers.  I've even run tournaments using them.

The Discatcher Sport is a dis-catcher.  The Skill Shot does have a smaller target area but it is forgiving on sliders because it has no nubs.

We don't use Discatchers for our league because it is too easy to pinch your fingers in the gathering ring when moving them around.  We want to switch to Travellers because they weigh half as much as a Skill Shot and just fold up instead of breaking down and folding up.

Don't pay $120.  Get them cheaper from the club or from the IOS.  You should be able to get a new Skill Shot for $100 if you buy from a friendly source.

Another nice thing about the Skill Shot is that it is very easy to level because it has three legs.  If you put two of the legs at the same height on a hill then you only have to prop up the third leg.  It is very hard to level one of those ring base baskets.
