I lucked out and had no change instead of the drop I was expecting.

Steve also broke the 875 mark, but he's been playing Int. anyways.

I'd expected to go down, but I stopped in the PDGA chat room and there was some guy in there who supposedly had access to the updates a couple hrs before they were posted. He said I'd gone *up* to 890. But it was posted as 877. And the avg for my rated rounds does come out as that. Whatever.

I contacted Wilbur to try to see why the old guys and Ints didn't get rated in Peoria. That would have helped a little.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

The same guy told me I had gone to 890 as well. Must have been the stock answer.... :-/

Does anyone know why the Pickle Open (6/19/05) didn't make the update?
The rounds are rated on the event page, but nothing on the players detail page.

Maybe the "official" report hasn't been submitted yet.

in order for events to be included in this most recent update, the TD report had to be submitted by the 24th of June. Just having round scores entered into the site isn't good enough....

So, how does the PDGA calculate ratings once they've decided what rounds will be counted.  Basically, I took all of my rounds that had a "yes" by them and averaged them.  I came up 5 points short of the rating the PDGA gave me.

I think Jon knows more of the details, but I remember reading that some of the process is becoming 'proprietary' and they're not going to tell you exactly how they come up with it anymore.

I think they are double weighting your most recent 8 rounds.

isn't there also the 'fudge' factor Chuck has mentioned a few times as well?

QuoteI'm not a big fan of the new system... one really bad event and my rating drops 17 points.

So it seems that I can now play intermediate, would it be difficult to change me to that division for the Rockford event?

Second thought, I'd have a hard time sleeping at night if I played Int.
When the PDGA told me that I belonged in Intermediate and they gave me a free pass back, I took it!  For a couple of years I could not have played Intermediate if I had wanted to because of the PDGA rule requiring a player to play advanced if they signed up for an advanced membership, even if they suffered a crippling back injury since then.  It was a lot of fun being on the lead card and finishing second or third behind non-members at every tournament.

Your rating accurately reflects how you were playing in April and May.  You should not feel guilty about moving down at an IOS.  We are fine with players playing in whatever division their rating puts them, or whatever division they would rather play up to.  There are other players in the 900-914 range playing Intermediate at our events.

I moved up three points but will stay in Rec. Guess I am a bagger. :P

My rating is 885, and PDGA used all of my 12 rounds played.  My lowest round was a 781.  That is outside one standard deviation.  Shouldn't the PDGA have thrown that one out?

it's not one SD it's a 2.5 SD
