What is a floater Disc?

Anyone know what a floater disc is?  My girlfriend is writing a graduate paper on disc golf and asked me, "How would you describe a floater disc in order to differentiate from a driver and a putter?"  I'm not quite sure what a floater disc is.

a disc that floats in water? most golf discs do not float....

You might need to ask your girlfriend what she meant by that.  I have seen the term used on pdga.com to refer to discs that don't fade at low speeds.
