Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

all I know is that Saturday is not sanctioned. If it was I would go.

i'm debating whether or not to play on sunday but really want to after playing the course for the first time yesterday...what do you think will be the winning scores for an am1 from both the whites and blues?

also, will i run a risk of the event filling up since i didn't have a chance to pre-reg?
thanks

Ok. I am looking for feedback. Do I play rec on Saturday or advanced masters or advanced on Sunday? Am I caught between the schylla of non-sanctioned and the charybidis of playing in a division in which I am overmatched. Or, should I just shut up and throw? Dunno. What say youse guys?

Dan Michler

well, if you want rated rounds then obviously you have to play on the sanctioned day.  if you want to compete then rec is the best division for you to play however.  so thats just gonna have to be your own personal call i guess depending on whats more fun for you personally.  i agree that it does suck that you have to make that decision.  i think competing is whats fun for me, so i'd go with playing rec.

I am the same way...  I am gonna play sunday, because there was some other stuff I wanted to do saturday anyways.  I would much rather have my rounds rated now that I paid the PDGA fee.  If I throw a really good round I still won't do too bad.  I shot +1 from the long tees yesterday and felt like I wasnt throwing very well, and I dont think that would be a bad score out there.

If they were not offering my division in the sanctioned portion of the tournament, I'd take a pass on the event.  I'd save my money for events that don't force me to make that choice.

If I were going to play it anyway, I'd play up.  I'd think about playing pro.  If you have to donate, donate to the best and get some lesson time.

Interesting perspective.  However, Am is $28.  If I play up to Advanced or Advanced master its $33.  Only $5 more to come in last but get a rating.  As we know from the threads about alleged bagging, I can learn plenty from the advanced players.  Yeah, the pros are good and yeah its good to support them.  However, its $53 to play pro and I just aint gonna do it.  I am teetering between playing advanced or A masters on Sunday or simply keeping my money and putting a few more $ in the Ace fund at Fairfield on Saturday.  It beats working, speaking of which... ;)
