I stumbled on this course by accident.
Its not on PDGA and Terry Miller seemed unaware of it.
Brand new small 9-holer in west Kenosha County.
Take 294 North.
Take Hwy C west.
Turn right on Hwy B (after town of Trevor).
Turn hard left on Hwy F.
Fox River Park is about 1/2 mile, main entrance is on left, just after the river and before you get to Hwy. W.
Park in Parking Lot #2.
Tee signs are just tall, red 2x2s without description.
Layout is a little confusing, but terrain is hilly with good amount of trees.
Not a huge challenge, but fun to play.
Average distance is about 260-280 feet each hole.

Thanks for the post. I'll have to take a look some weekend.

The old 9 holer sucks but the new 18 hole course is pretty sweet. I updated course maps and reviewed it. My user name is #19325

thats cool news to hear,  that nine holer isnt great.  have to get out to play the new 18 ;D

stangoo

just played the new 18 at silver lake and i must say that it is awsome.  great challenging course and it looks like there will be alternate pins at each hole . only down fall was it was a bit hard to navigate because there is only maps at the start of each nine.  hopefully they will ad tee signs.  they were out of score cards to when i played ;D

roman

I also found the time to get out there today. Fantastic course. I haven't played holes that fun in a long time. It's a much shorter drive for me than Joliet as well, so I couldn't be happier.

Played it yesterday morning.  Great course, very well kept beautiful park.  27 fun holes.  Bring mosquito repellent.  Thank you Kenosha County.

Hopefully I will get out to check out this course sometime this week. Really excited about how close this new course is.

Glad to hear that everyone is loving this course.  This was by far the best course design / co-op I have had with any parks system.  They are in fact, simply awesome in the Kenosha County Parks.

Tom Jenkins and myself did the design (along with 5 additional trips back by me) and there are a few minor tweaks that will take place in time.

Currently we are planning for a PDGA event to be held on July 18th with 1 or 2 others to follow later in the year!

Small things to address include:

- A redesign of the original Red Fox 9 - we won't make it harder necessarily, just much safer

- More signage for transitions such as 15 to 16, 17 to 18, etc.

- More descriptive tee signs on each hole

- Remove any grills where people *might* picnic.  They did this on 10 and 18 already in the design process.

- A second set of sleeves will be added so each hole will have a long and short

- Clearer acknowledgment of the suggestion / donation box

- Combining the front 9 and back 9 scorecards onto 1 card

- Clearly defining OB on the island green on 13 (you just wait to see what we do there)

- Possibly a few longer pins / tee boxes (but that's not for a while)

Please keep your eyes and ears out for vandals.  Minor vandalism was already noticed in less than a week!  These parks guys love their park and this course but will NOT tolerate destruction.  Let's do everything we can to keep this as Wisconsin's newest gems!!

I am the appointed liaison to the course so please feel free to contact me with questions.  414.803.3307

I played this course for the first time on Sunday.  What a great park for disc golf!  I will certainly be back for more!

The mosquitoes were very happy to have us there for the day   :o  They made it painfully obvious that we were in their territory.  I hope the baskets are in the ground throughout the year for some mosquito-free disc golf!

My 2 cents/humble suggestion...While I noticed the donation box close to teepad #1 and made a small contribution, I watched several others walking by without acknowledging it.  Maybe a bigger/more noticeable sign on the box would help?  Or maybe paint it something other than green?

discglfr

Good call!

In fact, I added that to the list above along with one other thing which is eventually combining the front 9 and back 9 scorecards so they all fit onto one card and we can just stock both spots!  Thanks again!

Terry,

Would love to see the PDGA event on a different date. Sinnissippi is that weekend and many of us will be heading there. Silver Lake is very close for many DISContinuum members and it'd be nice not having to decide between events.

Brett,

I thought I saw that somewhere but I'm not sure if there is another date that will work.  I will continue to work with the Parks department and with my insane schedule to see if we can come up with a different date but unfortunately I don't know if that will work out or not.  I will keep ya'll posted as for the progress.

PS - It would just be a 1 day, 2 round event.  All divisions on that single day.  I think we might have more than enough of a player base to offer an event in both places and still have them both fill.

I would love to play a tournament at Silver Lake, but I already committed to playing both days of the Sinnissippi tournament. I'd second trying another weekend - but I understand if that proves to be challenging due to schedule conflicts. We all deal with them.

This sounds like a great new course and I would also like to say that I would love to play a tournament here but I am also going to be playing both days at Sinnissippi.  Hopefully there is another time that might work.  Thank you for another great course near the chicagoland area though.  Always great to have.

Take 12 to a right on Wilmot Rd. Turn right on 93rd st. The park will be on the right. It's about a 20 minute trip from Fairfield.

Best use of a wood chipper since Fargo. Played Fox River on Saturday after Friday's big storm. The chips left almost no wet spots and scant mud. They also traced an easy path to the next tee on the back nine.

The front is more open but has some woods holes. The back is a forest nine that is quite tough but fair and varied. There are different wooded challenges. I can't wait to get back to play this course again. It is set in a lovely park. Nice concretes. I assume signs with distances will be added to the tee posts. I saw the locations for alternate basket locations.

I was out there today and spoke with the grounds keeper. He said he is probably going to move the pins around within the next day or two. Enjoy long 15 and 17 while you can! Looking forward to play long 7 and 12.

roman

Pins have been moved.

Hole 3 is fun. Holes 12 and 14 are very cool. Both require you to be able to make a long straight shot and then 12 dog legs right, 14 dog legs left. Tough 3s to get. 18 plays a lot longer, so that upshot becomes more difficult to make if you catch an early tree.

On the flip side, holes 5, 8, 11, and 13 have become ace run holes. Short putter shots. Easy deuces on your score card. Short 17 is not as short as the previously mentioned holes, but also a deuce or die hole that's dying for an ace.

Overall this layout will get a lot more birdies, so expect lower scores. I hope all the pins will be in long position  for the tournament in July. I'd love to play all longs after Sinnissippi.
