Dan & I played a few rounds out at Silver Lake today. When #15 and #18 are in the shorts it seems like you walk a few miles to finish the last 3 holes. The 2nd round we decided to throw a temporary hole across the field to #16's basket. We played from #17's tee to #8's Gold basket on the 9 hole course. Talk about a tough par 5! That tunnel is awesome. We finished the 18 by playing #9 on the 9 holer. It's the best hole on that course. It's a nice alternative finish.

It has been about a month since i've been to Silver Lk. Almost all of the # plates have been broken off the top of the baskets. Many of the tee signs are gone. The screws are still sticking out of the posts so i'm assuming they were ripped off. Hole #12 has a face and a man painted on 2 of the main trees.  >:(

when i was there a month or so ago there was only 1 number plate missing and 4 signs. i heard that there are 14 signs missing now. really disappointing, but in all honesty not surprising (not going to comment on why cause i'm sure i'll offend someone). anyway the locals are on a quick pace to discourage the park dept to continue building the course. and i bet you money none of those a-holes pay when their there either.

This is depressing news.  Damon and I were there about three weeks ago.  There were only a handful of tee signs.  I did not know whether it was vandalism. I thought they simply had not put all of them up.  This is a great course. its challenging and fun. I would hate to see it destroyed.  I must admit that I really did not even look at the number plates on the baskets. I knew which ones they were.. The baskets were in fine shape.

That is a real shame. I remember the signs were hand made, too. Someone put all that effort into them only to have some d-bags tear them down.

I heard all long pins will be in the ground this week.

Course was packed yesterday. Park is looking awesome. Totally dry and a ton of flowers. Most of the tee signs have been fixed and each basket has a number on top. This is a really good course when all the pins are in the long position. The walks to 16 and 18 don't seem that long when you are playing those holes instead of walking them.

Silver Lake has all there tee signs back up and there are numbers on all the baskets. The course is looking good and it doesn't seem like there is as many mosquitoes this year as there was last year.

ChrisE

Course is in good shape, was out there Saturday July 16, and played a full round.  All baskets are in B positions.  There is minimal damage from the storms.  And bugs were not terrible, just watch out in the shady areas still.

All the pins will remain in the longer positions for the remainder of the week.  They will be in those positions for 1st round play on Saturday and then 2nd round play on Sunday.

Has everyone signed up for this weekend's event?  You can do so at www.iRegisteredOnline.com or mail in your pre-reg form before the July 20th, $10 late fee.

Was talking to a friend of mine who mentioned a new 18-hole course nearing completion about a mile or so away from Fox River Park at Silver Lake County Park.  He said Terry Miller designed it.   I haven't seen anything on here about it though.  Anyone know what's up?

Have not heard about that, but I have played the new course in Lake Geneva twice, allegedly designed by Kewaunee's Tim Kopacz.

Got this info from Phil B:

County to debut new disk course

SILVER LAKE — A new disc golf course will open for play next week at Silver Lake Park, Kenosha County officials said this week.

Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser said the front nine of the new Silver Lake Disc Golf Course will open for play on Aug. 29. Silver Lake Park is located at 27000 85th St. in Silver Lake.

The back nine of the Silver Fox is designed and brushing has started with a completion date targeted for early 2016. The addition makes 36 holes of disc golf available to the public between Silver Lake and Fox River parks.

The course was a collaborative project with Terry Miller, professional course designer, Kenosha County parks staff and the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha's at-risk youth summer job program.

For more information contact the Kenosha County Parks Division at 262-857-1869.
