I am looking for several volunteers across Illinois to evaluate courses for the new PDGA course evaluation program. I am also looking for someone to help me coordinate these efforts so that we can get some courses evaluated before the IOS winds down.

I'd like to see evaluators who have played somewhere in the range of 100 courses or more and in various states. I'd like the coordinator to be someone with a lot of energy who has too much time on their hands! All volunteers must be PDGA members in good standing for this project.

If you'd like to volunteer please e-mail me thru the message board. Please do NOT PM me, my PM fills up too quickly! Please include your name and PDGA number in your e-mail along with what you'd be interested in doing.

If you'd like to read about this project, please go to the following link:

Thanks for your consideration!

I wouldn't mind doing a couple of courses. I'll do Fairfield & Bevier this winter when there is nothing to do.

Don't let that number scare you off. That's just what I'd "like" in a course evaluator. That doesn't mean that I will get it.  ;)

I tried to figure out how many courses I have played last night and fell asleep around 55 or so...it was kind of like counting sheep!

The more important item is that you have played in several states. Just knowing Illinois courses will not give you a full appreciation of everything that disc golf has to offer currently.

The first Illinois course evaluation has been posted. I did Willow Stream in Buffalo Grove for a warm up. High marks for tee pads!  :D

That's a sweet addition to PDGA.COM and good submission Jon.

Is there a field for "fees"  I know some courses cost $ to play and I looked for it but didn't see it?

Is there some kind of requirement for who can submit these evaluations besides in good standing with the PDGA??

any plans on resuming the evaluation of illinois courses?

if you need help i'd be willing to do whatever is needed, i haven't played even close to 100 courses though and have only played in MI, IL, WI, IA, NE

Everyone that has told me that they would evaluate courses this year has not done so yet. I don't find that the evaluation program has much merit so I haven't been pushing. The guy who runs the program for the PDGA is a little bit full of himself...maybe one has to be to take on such a project.

I would like to get the following courses added to the PDGA Course Evaluation
System http://www.pdga.com/course/eval/index.php. If you are a local of one of these
courses, please contact me. These are some of the best 18 hole courses in Illinois that I
have played. If you feel there is a course that deserves to be on this list please notify me.

how would this work? is there a form or something?

How it works is that you first contact the czar of the program. Then you go through a great number of hurdles to get a course into the system. You will be amazed at just how agonizing this process is. After you've evaluated a course, the czar will look at your evaluation, and without having seen the course himself, use his own intuition to tell you that the data is too high and ask you to do it again.

I'm not kidding. I've heard from numerous sources from different places around the country that this is how it has worked.   :protest:

I took a look at the ratings for Michigan courses.  Clearly the system is not working.

they definitly don't look right to me.just look at carrol marty in ames, ia and granite ridge/woodland greens in wisco. every hole at carrol marty is dueceable by the AVG person, long and short pins. i don't think the people rating have read or understand the design quality guide http://www.pdga.com/course/eval/OHDQPictureGuide.pdf .
