Hey everyone.

I am writing to let you know that I am already receiving registrations for my scholastic disc golf weekend.

Basically I'm running a college student only event on Saturday, October 8th and an any other student event on Sunday, October 9th.  If we do NOT fill up on Sunday with elementary, junior high, and high school students, I'll have something to let leftover Saturday students compete again.

Please feel free to look at my two flyers and pass them around.

Thanks,

What constitutes "college student?"
Do I need a certain number of credits?  :P

We have a Disc Golf Club meeting next week and I'll make sure to bring this to their attention.

Terry: do you have contacts at Whitewater? I know a few of Carla's friends at work are students at UWW. I'll forward this information on to her to pass on to them who can pass it on to the club.

Pass it on!!

The intent of this event is to encourage new and probably 'not so good' collegiate players.  I addressed this with David Gentry of the PDGA and he recommended I have a ratings cap (like 955) for eligibility.  I thought about the pros and cons and thought about doing it but I simply didn't put it on the flyers.

I likely won't turn anyone away that is in fact a college student but for what it's worth - getting 'ringers' to show up wasn't really what I had in mind.  I would just hate for some college students to come and play in their first event and then to have them get beat by 20 strokes or more and be discouraged to play in more events.  This was also conveyed to Chris Heeren as an event that wasn't really 'meant for him'.

Talk it over and attend if you wish but again - I wanted to let you know what my intentions were.  I will say the players pack will probably be worth the entry fee alone.  The payout will be flat but the players pack will be really heavy.

Thanks,

SERG

I remember talking to you briefly about this before and really like the concept of the program/event. Just giving you a hard time...I only take 1 credit and it's for audit so technically I don't have the rights as a student because I don't pay student fees, just tuition.

We've discussed getting the Parkside Disc Golf Club more involved in actually going out and playing as a group. I know a number of them could really benefit from playing with "more experienced" players on a regular basis.

OFF TOPIC: Are you teaching at UWP this Fall? If so I'll try an meet you out there some day.

Hey Serg,

I was actually writing that response more for Dan's initial reply but your post snuck in while I was writing mine so it looks like I was replying to you.

Anyway, I AM teaching MW at UWP from 3:30 to 4:45.  Things are just getting started and when I was down there on Monday I handed out 5 or 6 flyers to people that were playing the course that weren't even in my class.  With the event being 30 minutes from Parkside, I really hope to get a large draw from there.

Guess I'll be seeing you next weekend for the US Womens event.  I'm marshaling that!

i'm just playin with you terry  :D   the only course i've taken at CLC was the driver's course to get rid of a ticket.  i do wish i had a tourney to play that day though.  oh well.
