I heard a rumor, so, I emailed the park district in Bartlett. This was their response.

QuoteYes, we have installed all the footings and sleeves for the holes and
will be installing the baskets and tee signs by Wednesday this week.  We
are having a grand opening this Thursday, 9/22 at 6 p.m.  Please join us
if you can.
The course is located at Sunrise Park, 1/2 mile east of Rt. 59 on the
corner of Struckman Blvd. and Appletree Ln.  The course is 18 holes,
6220' in total hole length, has water, woods, open areas, and good
topography.  The course was designed in-house using staff from another
park district who are involved in the sport and Tom Christiansen, a disc
golf pro who lives in Bartlett.

This course is open 8 a.m. to dusk daily and may be used at no charge.
It will be closed during High School x-country meets, the first being
this Saturday, 9/24.

Please try the course and let me know what you think.

Holy cow! 18 holes. That is amazing. Not another Chicago 9-holer.

a grand opening at 6:pm? seems like it may be tough to make it through by dusk...but I will try to make it.

Took a drive out there at lunch today. It's hard to get a feel for the true course layout. They have the locking collars in the ground but, no tea pads or indications of teas yet. Seems for the most part it's going to be long and pretty wide open. Water may come into play on a couple of holes and you play through a wooded area on a couple of holes. It doesn't look like the park is used for much at all. It would be nice if they started planting trees also. Right now it looks a lot like holes 6,7, and 8 at streamwood without the reeds.

Awesome, just down the road from home. Gonna go check it out after work. Will try to be there on thursday. There will be 3 courses within a few miles of each other once the course in Streamwood goes into the ground.

El Mexicano

It seems that courses are only heard about as rumors. I wonder why course plans are never posted or announced. They would get alot more help from locals if they did.

El Mexicano

Just drove by the course tonight. Innova Discatchers are in the ground!!!! I will definately be there on Thursday. Maybe I'll see you guys there. I was tempted to pull out my glow discs.

Official grand opening is tonight at 6pm. I won't be able to make it because my Bball league starts at 7pm. I did walk the course the other day. I was there before the tee signs were in. I saw where the baskets were, but without knowing where the tees are going to be, it's hard to tell what the course will really be like.

It's a huge park. They have a lot of room so I imagine the course will be pretty big. It's very lacking in the tree department, so, it may just be long and not very difficult from there. Most of the course is very reminiscent of holes 6,7,8 and 15 at Shady Oaks in Streamwood. Very open terrain.

The thing that I see is if they got some money in the budget for trees. This could be a great course. They could place trees at will to really make this a challenging course.

Those were my observations. Without knowing the actual layout it's tough to really make a call.

Right now all I can say is at least it's not another 9 holer. We'll see what else after I play it this weekend.

It is a much nicer looking Park than Streamwood though.

That's very true. I guess I should have said that. It doesn't have the reeds at all. The look is more like Madison Meadows in Lombard without as many trees.

I hope to get there sometime Monday.  I will be in Geneva early.  I was going to try the new St. Charles course but 18 trumps 9 and I will check out this course on the way home.

I was sooooooooo disappointed today after we played this course. There are about 6 good holes on this course but the rest is just plain boring. It's much more wide open & flat than Fairfield. I think Streamwood is a much better course. I also haTe all the walk back holes on this course. There was no need for them.

Bartlett is a pretty long 18 holer.  holes 2-9 were not too bad and offered some challenge in my opinion.  The rest of the holes u throw back and forth across an open field.  overall the course is not very fun to play in my opinion.  if ur that close to shady oaks, just go to shady oaks.

I too was hoping for more. One somewhat promising thing I heard was they are hoping to start planting more trees out there to somewhat break up the open holes. I hope that is the case. Seems somewhat of a case of planting a course somewhere just to plant one. Without a lot of thought going into what would actually make a challenging course.

I played this course yesterday - it started to rain pretty hard when I was at the 10th hole and I just didn't feel like finishing.  These 18 baskets could have been put to much better use.

El Mexicano

There are apparently 50 trees included in the budget for this course. They will be placed soon enough, from what I was told. They will no be just sapplings (thank GOD), but a few years old. This will hopefully break up the openess of the back nine.

CEValkyrie

Trees will definitely help.

It just frustrates me with the lthe mentality & design of courses in the suburbs of Chicago.  The walk backs like after hole 1. 7, & hole 9 are irratating. With that much room in the park there is no reason the course should not flow nicely. It is also frustrating that there are conflicts such as #1's basket placed right in the righty hyzer zone from #18. 4's basket is also in the perfect blasting zone from #5.
