Since the tres are not yet planted, changes can still be made.  maybe  e can find a friendly ear to bend. given that they were willing to spend the $ to put in the DISCatchers, this seems likely. Baskets can be easily moved.  I never got there yesterday but will try today.

I guess I don't understand the "behind closed doors" attitude that a lot of PDs take when they go to put in a course. Maybe it's the clubs fault for not letting people know we are available to help in many ways. Supposedly there is a pro in Bartlett who helped design the course. Seems to me a pro would want something better. Who knows though, maybe they designed for the masses. Two guys I work with here, love it. But, they tend to like courses where it's tough to get into trouble. Personally I think you can design for both the seasoned pro and the guy with one disc who plays the game 4 times a year. It just takes a little more thought than "oh, slap the basket anywhere around here." Oh well, I'm just frustrated because we finally get an 18 holer and it's a bit of a let down. It's better than 9, but, I just get the feeling it could have been a lot better.

I totally agree. The object of the game is course management. Knowing how to avoid trouble is what makes this game so addicting. Park districts should know to contact the PDGA for help. I am sure they contact the right folks when it comes to regular Golf.

Is anyone going to update the PDGA course directory for Illinois? Bartlett hasn't been added yet. Just wondering. :D

I can add it. Someone may want to add more specifics later.

I played this course yesterday. Definetly right about the walkbacks. With that much spce, the course should flow like a walk in the park. Nice that they actually used the pond a bit, but I wish the basket for #7 was closer to the water. Shooting over on 8 & 9 was fun, but not really a chance to get wet unless you loose your footing. I think I skipped a few in the "back" that just criss-crossed in the field. Finally a new IL 18, but it was a letdown. <_<

I played the course on Saturday. It starts off pretty well. I enjoyed the elevated shot on 5 and the huge anhyzer on 6. Holes 8 and 9 are over water, but very short. 15 and 16 were ok as well.

Tried it out Tuesday at lunch. There is plenty of room for the gallery. The grass was mowed nicely. A great place to just reach back and really let go of the disc. There's only four or five holes where you might hit a tree, so I guess it would be good testing grounds for cheap plastic. On the whole, I'll skip it until trees have been added.

The only thing good about the course is that it gave me an excuse to try out the golf cart that I modded up for disc golf. Note to self: lock washers are a good thing.

Played best shot with Tom Christiansen last night. Their league will be on Thursdays. We started at 4:45pm, but had to skip a couple of holes to be able to finish the round before sunset. It got gusty out on the open holes. He definately confirmed the 50 tree rumor. Tom said he is working on getting areal photos to start drafting some tree placements. Now that the course is in it will be easier to start the tweeking process.

went out and played it for the first time today. it does look like there is alot of young trees out there. it was a nice course. had some good holes, basically 2-7 and 15. i think for the land they had available they did a good job. i think they should change some holes and have more around the lake, the lake has a good shape to it to make it a good one to make some tough holes. the wind is a bitch out there too, my discs were going up and down in the air like crazy. i think farfield is a good comparison excluding 8, 14-17 and not as hilly.

Maybe there were trying to avoid using the entire pond so that people that go to fish are not disturbed.  There was about 5 people out fishing 10 days ago when I last played.

It's going to be many years before those trees take full affect.  They are maybe 3 or 4-year old trees (maybe older), but right now they are nothing to even really worry about as you play out the hole.  I'm glad that they are there, and hopefully I'll still be enjoying the game by the time the trees fill out and present a nice obstacle.  At least with all of the trees that were added, you get the feeling that the PD is willing to let the course stay for a very long time.

Just wish I could trade those baskets with a course that is great now but has lousy baskets.  Then when Bartlett turns into a really nice course move the DISCatchers back lol.  Fantastic baskets.
