Those pads were awesome! It's nice being able to throw with footing in the winter. We all appreciate it.

suppose I should qualify that with the tags will most likely be there. Both my kids are sick, so me being at best shot in the morning is dependant on the amount of sleep the wife gets tonight.

If the baby sleeps well, I'll be there. If somebody wants to pick up the box of tags to make sure they're there.... well, more power to you.

A little more detail on Fall Leagues:

10 Weeks

Brett C. missed one week, 6 first place finishes, 3 second place finishes

Tom S. 3 first place finishes, 4 second place finishes, 2 third place finishes, and 1 fourth place finish.

That is some fine disc golf.

Kelsey had to write a poem for school:

League Must Go On!
By Kelsey Brakel

We went out to Firefighters for League today
And half of our field left-handed would play.
A trying task for any to conquer
And November winds just made it harder.

On the first hole Kelsey let fly
A 150 Valkyrie into the sky.
She watched as it plummeted into the stream
A more heart-wrenching sight has never been seen.

The Valkyrie was rescued, we moved on to hole two
Looking balefully at the all the leaves to wade through.
"Watch where they land," Bruce said with a snort
But, of course, we did nothing of the sort.

Discs that were lost in russet floods
Were recovered, and at last we left the woods
For a few brief holes, then entered once more
To play the game that had become a chore.

Diana stuck one high in a tree;
Three more became jammed before recovery.
One more hole, we'd be done with the front nine
All confessed Firefighters had us beat this time.

But no!  Our toil was not done.
Bruce still seemed to think that this was fun!
Discs stuck in trees,  hypothermia in the rain,
This was the way he liked to play the game!

So nine more holes we had to endure
Although to the rest of us it seemed like more.
Shivering, we finished, then raced to the van
To turn up the heat and drive home again.

As we discussed today's turnout and lack of players
We hinted to Bruce, "Maybe they don't like to wear layers
And layers and layers with a poncho on top."
We don't think he got it: even for rain, League never stops.

All I know is, it was -10 when we left for the Cracked Plastic in 2004, and the only we of that were Kelsey and I because Diana and Kira don't play in that weather.  That was real temperature.  There was no wind.  Kelsey and I had to go because we had promised to help with PDGA new member and renewal stuff.  So when registration was done the tournament was not full and I told Kelsey, I can play or we can leave, whatever.  She said, "We're here.  You might as well play."  So at the end of the day, and it did warm all the way up to 12 that day, I said, so we can head for home, or come back tomorrow and you can play mens' rec if no women or juniors show up.  And she said, "We're all the way over here.  We might as well come back tomorrow if you aren't going to get lost again."

damonshort

a fine, if not moving, poetic exercise.

I might only point out, however, that in the first stanza, the words "conquer" and "harder" do not rhyme. Not even close. I'd suggest something similar to the following:

"... A trying task for any to conquer
Especially when given a Dad who is bonkers."

Just a suggestion.
thanks,
Damon
