Footwear for Winter Play

Any suggestions on the best footwear for winter play? Something that will give you some traction, keep your feet dry, and still not weigh you down too much? Is there something that will do all three?  Or do some people wear different shoes or boots depending on the depth of the snow?

gore-tex boots that are cut above the heel, breathable wool socks, and a second pair of socks waiting in the car.  that is key.

check Sierra Trading Post for some good deals on boots.  i got a pair of italian made asolo boots on that site for under 90 bucks, and they are typically a 200 boot.

i just layer up on the socks, tuck some long pants into the socks, and wear my regular Gore-Tex shoes to play in.  I can't play disc golf in any type of boot or anything like that.

all leather combat boots, wool socks (over regular cotton if really cold), jeans tucked into the top of the boots.
for deep snow substitute the jeans for long johns, sweatpants, then snow pants.

Just bought a pair of Merrell Chamelion II waterproof hiking boots at Dick's.  Paired up with a pair of socks I found there that are by ingenius (one piece of material that is water resistant liner with wool outside - very nice and warm), I played 3 rounds at Fairfield today in the sometimes foot deep snow.  My feet were warm and dry the whole time.  I can't recommend these boots enough.  A little pricey at $119, but worth every penny.  Wore them to the sledding park with the same results.

liners under waterproof socks...  any shoe with traction and then a pair of gaitors is all that is needed for playing in the snow/rain..

I was thinking of getting the later ^ for all seasons.
My friend has these and loves them:

$ 10 pair of ankle cut boots from kohls

the trick is to layer

dress socks as the first pair
sport socks for the next
then plastic bag (if necessary)
then another pair of sport socks

this seems to work for me but im size 9.5 buying 10's most of the time
so the extra socks work for me

i have to replace the spikes i wear in the summer
other wore out but those can wait

They are the top pictured ones.  I didn't mention before, but these are as comfortable and light as my leather basketball shoes.  These things are the shiznitobam .  I plan on playing tomorrow all day and looking outside, the snow should be really wet.  I'll post again to let you know how they did.

I wear some New Balance trail running shoes in the summer, so I wasn't thinking all season (just deep snow), but if all their shoes are this good, I'm sure all the models are great.

Played 27 today at Fairfield in the really wet snow.  Feet were warm and dry the whole time.  Outside, the boots were soaked, but inside was fine.  Love these things.
