QuoteFrom the first post:

QuoteDo I get a player pack when I play trophy only?
All amateur players get a player pack. Pros to not get a player pack.

Could you change that to:

Do I get a player pack when I play trophy only?
If you are playing in an amateur division you get a player pack.  If you are playing in a pro division you do not get a player pack.

u can always play the adv/pro day then
...perhaps a 'pro-Shashanah' division...

but isn't pro/adv always on Sat (the 23rd) this season anyhow?
Yes, September 23rd is a Saturday and in 2006 all advanced and pros are playing on Saturdays at IOS tournaments.

QuoteIf you have the kind of employment or employer where you have to know four or five months in advance if you want to get the weekend off, we can let you know what we know when we know it. Just send Brett, Jon or me an e-mail. We don't want to publish tentative dates because that will cause confusion for people who never see the updated dates.

i would like this info under the promise not to diseminate bad info

How firm are the dates posted at the beginning of this thread? I should start turning in requests to get weekends off from work.

The dates are solid.  There still might be a venue swap or a sanctioning level change, but the dates are locked in.  That is the schedule we want to go with, so we are just waiting on the PDGA for their approval of sanctioning.

Just a wee update:  the paperwork and the money are in.  Now we just wait.  They won't notify us.  They'll just put our dates up on the PDGA tour when they are approved.

#1 should be up shortly.  Dave Gentry and I are talking about 2 and 3.  If they decide that either 2 or 3 has to be unsanctioned because of other tournaments on the same weekend that don't actually draw from the same pool of players, either of those events might go unsanctioned or at another venue.

The dates are as good as any others.  There are zone of exclusion conflicts on 12 out of 14 consecutive weekends April through July, so it is really just a question of whether the PDGA wants to sanction our events too.

May... Lombard vs. Madison... hmm, maybe I can see a conflict there. (I think I'd rather play in Madison myself, mainly since I never shoot well at Lombard.)

June... Crystal Lake vs. .... A-tier in Ann Arbor? Oskaloosa IA???  Reykjavik?????
thanks,

You gotta be kidding.  That's 300, count 'em, miles. Do they understand that the popuation around Chicago (and St. Louis for that matter) is way more dense than bumble&@*$(ville) where their office is. I think St. Louis has some great courses but I am not driving 300 miles. Madison Meadows is a pretty cool course but I'm sure the Gateway chuckers aint coming up here in droves either. There are  too many smileys for idiocy on the board here so I won't bother.  I think  this one is self-explanatory.

Bruce Brakel

I'm trying to explain that to them.  We don't get many players from Peoria, Bloomington, Urbana or any of the disc golfing communities halfway to St Louis so its not like we are competing for the same pool of players.  Last year we had a very well attended event at Lombard on the same weekend as they had a very well attended event at Kenosha, so its not like there is a shortage of players that needs to be rationed.  We scheduled around the M/NT/As in Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota.  With 11 of those in 14 consecutive weeks, April through July, we can't schedule around everything.  So it is just a matter of whether the PDGA wants our money or not.

I hadn't even considered St. Louis, since it seemed so far out of the realm of rational possibility. then again, I forgot about some of the new guidelines for 'zone of exclusion' this year...

It is looking like the PDGA will lets us do C-tiers for those two events, which is fine by me if they will also let us run them to amateur B-tier standards.  After experimenting with a lot of different formats over the last five years, I'd like to do a series where we just do one thing that almost everyone seems to like.
