The club received 5 Marshall St. DVD's from the initial order placed thru the link on the club site. The will be given out as CTP's at a few IOS events. I also heard that Marshall St. donated a ton of DVD's & each TD packet is going to have one.

i've seen on a couple posts that some of the events may change to pro b tiers - what ones are likely candidates?  and what will it ake to make this happen?  is there anything that we can do to help in this process?

Any of them "could" be a pro B except for Crystal Lake. The PDGA is making us run Crystal Lake as a C tier because of the new 2006 AREA rules. Rockford is a pro B thanks to Greg. It takes sponsorship cash. If someone comes up with enough sponsorship cash and they want to ear mark it for a pro B tier, we would be happy to work with the PDGA to make that happen. I think our players have shown enough support for these events to justify B-tier status for any of them if we can come up with the sponsor cash.

rockford isnt a b-tier yet - but hopefully it will be soon (crossing fingers).   i was thinking about starting a bag tag with some disc prizes for the winners to get a little closer to the 500 mark.  50 people at 10 bucks a head and that is it.  pay the winners out the morning of the tournament or something.

Myk or Mike,

Wasn't sure if it was Myk or Mike that called me regarding my PDGA membeship and online registration for IOS1, but, yes, I am a PDGA member.  So, could you please refund my $5.15?  Thanks for catching that.

sorry Mirth.  I can't hear so good.  Thanks.

The Aurora event might move to the previous weekend to accomodate a couple of other tournaments.  Just a note to watch this space for further updates.

I have other announcements I'm dying to make, but the deal is still in the works.  So I'm just going to have to keep dying for a little while.

Just pre-registered for IOS #1. Are we going to be able to view the pre-registered field?

The PDGA just sent me the passwords to update the tournaments, so once I get the pre-reg info I'll start updating the PDGA tourney listing.

I'm thinking about registering for IOS #2.  I've only been playing for 6 months now, and just this past Sunday I shot a 74 at that course, which is the best I've done there (and the posted par is 71, so I'm definitely not that great).  All of those were from the white tees, which is whatever the middle level would be.  I did finally get a 4 on that really tough long hole #19.  I've never been in or to a tournament before, so I'm fairly clueless as to how the format would work.  I think I know enough about the rules to know how to mark my lie and staying behind the marker and where my footing has to be and all that stuff.

Are there groups of people that play each hole at a time? or is it one at a time? I would presume there's some sort of officiating?

I'll be able to continue playing that course and work on getting better, but I'd think that I'd want to play with the intermediate group, correct?  I just wish it wasn't on a Sunday, it's tough for me to clear up a sunday morning.  I also don't have a PDGA number, so I understand there's an extra $5 fee there.  That's ok because I don't think I'll be able to play in too many tournament-type things.  I think I'd like to get a little bit better as well before I join up.

So many questions!

There is a link that has scores from last year. The cements were played both rounds. There were 20 holes for a par of 60.

I would suggest playing Recreational at your first event. We have a first time players clinic prior to the first round. You will be sent out in at a minimum of a 3-some depending on how many players are there. Players in the group are responsible for scoring and calling rules violations.

Yes, add $5.00 if you are not a PDGA member. We hope to see you out there! I was hooked after my first event.

Scott,

For some people coming to their first tournament helps them take their game to the next level. I would suggest approaching the experience thinking that you are coming to have fun and learn something from your first tournament experience. Don't be put off by the title "Recreational Division". It is a bad name. Play Recreational and try not to put too much emphasis on how you perform at your first tournament. I would also suggest to play trophy only for your first event.

I also think you should play Rec.  Am 3 would be a better name for the division.  You are more likely to find players at your skill level in Rec, and that will make the event more fun.  Rec players are mostly pretty good players compared to all the players you'll see on a course on a sunny Saturday.

What was the 20th hole?  I have my work cut out for me if I was 74 after 19 then heh.

I fully intend to go out there to just have fun.  I know that I'm not going to win the very first time going out to play, especially if I've only been playing a couple of months.  I'm still working on my mechanics for both drives and putts.  At least there's 2 more month before the event!

Does anyone have individual hole pars so that I can compare it to how I've thrown?  I know that at some point in playing the course I've thrown par or better on every hole, but with a par of 60 that means a lot of those par 5's are going to be 4's or even 3's.

Sounds like fun :)
