Since the new ratings update is tomorrow, I thought I'd make a new thread about it here. I hope my rating goes up because I had a par round at Lemon Lake (Blue Course) and a par round for 21 holes at Valpo.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Chainmeister

first round at Fairfield (76!!!!!) kept me under the Mendoza Line (800) but for some reason Indiana State Championships Ams do not have ratings. that should get me over in March. Oh well.

The Indiana TDs are really good for that, putting the rec men on a different layout from everyone else so they won't get ratings. They did that at the Village Pillage also.

That is exactly what they did. I likely will never see a rating. first round was 830ish. In the second round we had an int. player in our group and he played from different tees on some holes.

Bruce Brakel

They did it at another tournament that the Apostalous played that most of the rest of us did not. I saw it in junior's stats.

As a player I find that really annoying. As a TD, I promise we will not do that to your division. At the Village there was no reason for it. The short tee was where they'd be throwing their drives anyway.

About the only place I can think of where something like this might happen at an IOS is the hole at Aurora where you drive over the river. But, rather than give Junior Girls or rec women the short tee, we would make the short tee the drop zone, and give anyone the option to concede the o.b. and tee from the drop zone throwing 3.

Since I am not really playing for cash or plastic I might just play intermediate or advanced masters if I smell this again. It really doesn't matter coming in last in those divisions (which I would not have done at Indiana) or close to last in Rec. Also, the points are better. Its a little goofy playing two different courses in the same round and in my case having players in the same group playing the different courses.

At Aurora if you want to avoid this you can just play the one hole really short but add some rope to make it tighter or play more longs on the other holes. Or, you could lengthen the hole and make the first shot a lay up for junior girls, int women and puss arms like yours truely.

The tournament was the 6th Annual Lakewood Fall Classic in Valpo. I was going to play Rec there, but there wasn't any Rec players there, so I played Junior. I got some points and shot a par round for 21 holes for the first round. You don't want to know about my second round. That was on the shorter tees. I wouldn't of shot that well if there wasn't any shorter tees. If I played in Intermediate, I would of been tied for 4th. Anyway, It was VERY poorly run. <_< I had to do a playoff for second in the dark by CTP without any glowsticks. The TD and helpers were all confused and it took about 45 minutes before they started any awards. So, I am really angry ( ) that my par round isn't in there. I don't think I'll play that tournament again.

don't worry whether people think its good or bad. the goal should just be to keep improving. i set my rating goals for each december's update because usually all my tournaments for a given year will be included at that time. my goal is to improve at least 15 points by next december. can't wait for 2006!!

I agree with Dan that setting goals is important.

People ask all the time how to get better at this game. Here is my .02.

1. Throw, Throw, & Throw more. This doesn't mean go out & play round after round to me. You can throw twice as many shots in an open field in 1/4 of the time. I love the dudes who play in 5'somes & 6'somes. It takes them 3 hours to throw 54+/- shots. I also love the dudes who sit on the bench before doubles then are pissed when they shoot poorly. Get out & throw!

2. Play with a variety of players & watch them. Watch disc golf videos in the winter. Observe what strenghts they have & try to mimic those.

3. Putt, putt, putt!!!

4. Throw discs that fit your game. You need to understand what flight charactieristic a disc has. Also understand what wind does to a disc.
