Less than a month to go. Anyone besides me planning on going? I've never played the course so I'm taking 3/17 off to travel up there & play the course. What's the real scoop on the Janesville course? I never trust the descriptions in the PDGA directory.

I am planning on playing. Have not played there yet.

Weather is a big IF that time of year.  However, if its reasonably dry I was planning on playing there too.  I've never been to Janesville.  Its cool that the pros are playing the same day as the rest of us mortals.  Chris Heeran is listed as registered.  It will be fun to watch a 1000+ rated player (along with the 970somethings) after finishing my rounds.

For any local or semi-local is there a place to eat lunch around the course? I don't want to miss the start to the 2nd round (Sorry Neal, couldn't resist the cheap shot).

last year was nasty - just a soggy mess of a day.  to make things worse the tees were a mixture of rocks and mud that was impossible to move freely in.

the course is nice - a mix of short and long holes, elevations changes, water if you really shaft your shot, and all the other things that make courses fun.  if the weather is nice it will be worth driving a few hours for.

Hey guys...

I came on here to START a thread but I see it is already here.  Thanks.

I can give a few updates about the event.  First off, the weather is really the impossible part to guess here.  We might have 4 to 6 inches of snow on the ground or it might be a muddy, wet mess like last year.  The course is damaged much less if there is snow on the ground so I'm going to wish for that.

Secondly, they have ADDED 5 new tee pads to the course so that means that holes 1-9 do have CEMENT tees.  Again, some concern over the muddy tees last year is very understandable so this will help with a few more of the holes.  They are doing fundraising there to get 9 more cement tees but that will not happen prior to the WI Tour Warm Up.  So this was your official - notice or warning about the tees.

The baskets are in fact HOMEMADE baskets that catch pretty darn well for being homemade.  They are in the process of replacing the baskets and as soon as they get some more money, those will be replaced.  Again, this is your official - notice or warning about the baskets.

The course itself is a very fun and moderately challenging course.  It has many rolling hills and moderate length.  Most holes are reachable and duecable with a good drive.  Janesville is a growing scene in the world of disc golf and it's great to see Jake Jacobson, Marty Morgan, AND the Janesville Parks Department behind it!

All details should be posted here on the flyer

Better yet, I have had some serious Discontinuum help from Mirth and it looks like online registration will be up and live in the next few days.  Check back to www.takeflighttoday.com for more details on that.

Pre-Reg for this because with the buzz aboutt this event, I think we could seriously fill!  I am doing my best to update all registrants online as they come in.  In fact, I just updated it today.

Any questions - just shoot me a message via e-mail, give me a call, or send me an IM.

Brett, please put tag 59 on hold for Chris (Drathe) and maybe bring it to the Warmup...

K, I'll probably end up mailing it. I found out I have a wedding reception that day so I won't be able to attend.

Mirth,  I am pretty sure I will play.  wachuwant?

Mukey

Brett,

I had to miss IL State last year 'cause of a wedding. NO MORE!

P.S. If the next Club Meeting will be before or after 3/18 I planned on attending, so I could pick my tag up then....

mirth

it's most likely 3/19. We shoot for the 3rd Sunday of every month during the Fall/Winter/Spring months.

Pre-Registrations are starting to come in.  In fact, I even had 3 online ones come in just today.

This event is going to be fun and probably very well attended so I make the strong suggestion that if you plan to come and play, I'd pre-register as soon as possible to secure your spot.

We have registration available online (www.takeflighttoday.com) and also via standard check/mail system.  Either way is perfectly fine but be sure to get it in!

Thanks,

Ter

After league in Janesville Saturday one of the locals, I don't know his name,  said they hoped to have the cement tee pads for the back 9 in by the Warm Up. Hope for good weather so they can.

SERG

Mirth,

I'll be heading up there to play as well. If Chainmeister can't help you out, I will.

Is anyone getting a car pool going for the Wis. Tour warm up if not I am driving but can only fit one in my truck.

whofarted

i played janesville yesterday.  to my suprise they had something like 4 inches of hard pack snow on the ground over the whole course.  i drove from rockford to janesville to madison to milwaukee then back to rockford and that was the only place i saw snow!  the new tee pads are huge and the natural tees were in really good condition, except for the long hole on the top of the hill which was completely covered in the white stuff.

I just signed up for tourney online today played the course last week but was sick all weekend and am still moderately sick now.  I liked the course, good mix of holes, and if they made the back 9 concrete before the tourney that would be sweet.

Get your entry fees in. Terry said there would be a max of 90 players. You will be turned away if it fills. 1/3rd of the field is already registered.

When I was talking to him he said he might be limiting it to 4 per hole, 72 total
