It looks like they are making some new holes out here. On the way down the path after you drive on hole #11 if you look to the right they have a path cut in the woods and have a pile of mulch ready to go.It looks pretty nice a tight path with a little elevation.Does any one have any info?

Moog_playa

It's pretty standard that they re-mulch some of the holes...I doubt they're putting up new holes, since there's hardly any room to expand back there- it butts up against houses in a few places.  So they cut down the marsh grasses and used it as storage for mulch.

holes 11-14. The bane of my existence. lol.  oye.  maybe now that I can throw forehand hole 11 won't be as bad (I'm normally LHBH).  Hole 12 is short and sweet and EASY if you're a rightie, but not so much for a lefty.  13 and 14 just have evil trees.  I'm great at smacking a tree dead center, but try to do that when going for the basket? Never! lol

played a round there today. it got wrecked from that storm. that tree on 7 thats right in the middle of the path is down. some of the trees in the woods are down. and as we were playng someone playing soccer broke their leg.

they put some new limestone down on the teepads. hopefully it rains hard out there today and packs it down. they didn't clean up any of the trees that fell.

I just recently moved to the area and this is now my home course.  Is it typical for Hole 5 (400+ ft. & wide open) to have a lot of standing water near the basket?  I've played here a couple time in the past and never saw this.

Also, there was a merchant out there Monday and said that there were leagues there on Monday nights around 6:00.  I was there at about 5:45 & saw a pretty small group of people.  Maybe they were the league players?  Are any of you guys running leagues here?

Jason -
Hole 5 only gets wet after a lot of rain.  It's usually not there.  The same goes for the open field area on 14, it gets really soppy and then floods when it rains a lot.

There ARE random draw best shot doubles monday's at 6, and I know this because my brother joined the group.  The night that he went a lot of people were out there practicing for the Crystal Lake IOS tournament, so I don't know if the group was a lot larger because of that or not.  Keith said that they were all pretty good, and I think the group that won it was more than 10 down.

Once I move next month back to Algonquin we'll have to get in touch and go play a round.  I'm down 2-nil to you right now! ;)

I stopped at Lippold Park for a quick 18 today on my way back from a meeting in Mundelein.  As I was playing hole 5 a school bus showed up with a group of high school kids under the supervision of a single teacher.  The kids proceeded to distribute themselves aournd the course, without any regard to anyone already playing.  While I was playing hole 7, and walking up the fairway to my shot, kids were throwing at my back from the tee.  One group of kids decided to play the course backwards and threw at the face of another casual player.  I decided to have a word with the teacher.  After reassuring him that I approved of the kids on the course I suggested he instruct them in some common courtesy regarding others who might be playing at the same time.  His response was gruff and annoyed, saying they were told to be courteous and he didn't see any problems (apparently unaware that someone informing him of issues might in itself be a clue).

They arrived around 1:00 this afternoon, 9/18/07.  I don't know their schedule, but it might be something to be aware of.  I'm currently debating with myself whether or not to send a letter to the school.

send letter to school

playing the course backwards is not right
i could see doing it if no one else was playing but thats not right
and if the kids were not receptive to your comments then they shouldnt be out there

My gripe is not with the kids, but with the teacher.

Chainmeister

That's why its worthwhile to contact the school.  Kids are kids and will act like fools.  The teacher was out of line and set a poor example.

If you do not send a letter you will never be able to complain again. If you do and you reference that this has happened before they will simply say, "why didn't you report this the first time, we could have done something then". Set the tone and inform the proper officials or the madness will continue!!!

Scott,
PM me whenever & we'll play.  I know that you work late, so right now we'd have to play glow.  FYI - I am currently "glow compliant", so bring it!  :D
