I have a friend who throws a mean hammer/tommy and I have read that the Epic is a good disc for hammers.  If any of you have thrown it could you please give me a little info on it for him.  Thanks

I have never seen a better tomahawk disc.  I picked an Epic up at a tourney last year and did not like it that much for regular throwing but my friend who throws tomahawk can chuck it a mile with a tail wind.  I have seen him clear the swamp on hole 12 at Fairfield by 20 feet with this shot.  The disc actually does a barrel roll and then flies normal, it looks sweet.  I would advise tomahawk throwers to try one.

I just won an auction yesterday with this disc included in it.  It should be exciting to try out!  The bottom of the disc looks so bizarre, but from what I've read and heard, if thrown right, the thing will go far!

i've heard many stories of people throwing overhand shots over 500 feet with Epics, although i've never actually seen it firsthand.  i personally tried it once and it didn't go anywhere, but throwing overhand isn't really my game.

There are a couple of guys in Michigan throwing that Epic barrel roll shot for distance.  Maybe Josh Romine?  It was someone I played with at Ludington in 2004.  It takes a lot of power to get the disc to come out of the roll flat and level.  Otherwise it just crashes like an overhand thumber.

At Am Nationals on hole #3 I saw a monsterours throw with an Epic. It's a downhill 850 to 900 foot hole. The guy threw it, it spun several times going a long ways, crashed straight to the ground, then rolled another 200 feet. He was left with a nice Roc shot to the hole for an easy 3.

My thumber days are over. It's a very effective shot & i'm going to miss it. My shoulder is trash right now.

I think the one Brett is talking about was Geoff Bennett.  Hole 3 is waaaaaaay downhill.  Still takes a monster shot to get that close though.

Geoff Bennett sounds like a likely suspect.

I hear you Brett.     I'm in the same boat.

My tomahawk used to be my get out of jail free card. In the 80's I could throw it further then most people threw backhand. I even had several aces with it. Now my shoulder is spent when it comes to anything overhand.

Old age sucks.

I have measured Johnny 'Roundhouse' throw an Epic Thummer 415 ft. last summer in madison with little wind help.

what a weeeeiiiird disc.  I just received mine (slightly used) in the mail the other day, and I made a couple throws with it last weekend.  I definitely saw some barrel roll action, but I'm going to have to learn how to throw those things a little bit better (tomahawks).  The motion looks very similar to a baseball pitcher, which is definitely my thing.  I'm still trying to just get my backhand to work properly, maybe I should stay away from the other shots for a while :p  The elliptical design on the bottom of the disc definitely sent a buzz with my coworkers though lol.  They thought I bought a defective disc at first!
