Anyone played this one and the Oak Brook one and can compare?  I know Oak Brook is a lot further south so it might not be in the "area", but curious to hear other's thoughts before I make the drive to try it out.

The seventh hole on this course is one of my favorite holes in the area.  For guys who can throw it is a pitch and putt, but I like the way hole sweeps down and back up. Maybe with a wraith I will be able to reach the basket this year.  This hole also has the steep drop on each side of the fairway. Along with a nice layout this course is never too  crowded and somewhat isolated. The holes are also well marked and the tee pads are pretty nice. It could be more wooded but overall a very nice nine hole course.

Played this course like crazy last summer.  It has some good elevation changes but they could have done better with the huge hill and the resovour.

I played this course yesterday, and after throwing a 21 and a 22 at Elk Grove the day before, I was feeling pretty confident. Boy, I underestimated this  course. The elevation changes and narrow fairways did present a nice challenge. I definately want to play this course a lot more and get better at it. If anyone would want someone to throw with, shoot me a PM and I'll meet up with ya.

I thought it was an interesting course, especially in the wind.  The elevation makes up for the openness.  There were a couple of places where the course routing was funky.  Isn't there one or two holes where the next tee is kind of where a short drive might land on the previous hole?  Seems like they could have avoided that problem by taking the course routing around the resevoir the other way.

The course is so underused it cries out for a backwards course routing.

"Backwards course routing?"

I could also do without the tall praire grass.

Bruce Brakel

Backwards course routing is when you have a set of tees that plays the course in reverse order, like the Beast and Goliath in Ludington, or BRATS in Ann Arbor.  So you would have a hole 10 that starts somewhere near 9 basket and plays back to 8 basket.  Then 11 plays from somewhere near 8 to 7 basket.  You want your reverse tees far enough from the baskets so it plays just like any other well designed course.

When you have brick layered course design, like 6, 7, and 8 at Buffalo Grove, or Capital T pairs like 16 and 17, or 14 and 15 at Kensington, it is hard to get a good backwards routing to work.  But I think Palatine has a good design for backwards routing.

Ok, that's kind of what I was thinking. We use to do that down in college.

My daughter is playing in a soccer tournament in Palatine this weekend.  I might try to play this course if I can get away.  Has anybody been there lately?  Dry?  Worth the trip?  Lemme know. Thanks.

djchill

its pretty dry but  the water is up pretty high from the lake   and if its windy watch your discs  very easy to lose discs out there but its a good course

Tom McManus

I really like this course.  But you can lose some discs in the tall grass.  It shouldn't be too wet.
