BUELLER??

I used to think John Hughes was a hack but Ferris Bueller's Day Off is better each time I watch it and the last slapstick half hour of Home Alone cracks me up.

By the way, Chasing Amy and Jersey Girl were missing from your Kevin Smith list.

Those are some great comedies, Bruce.  I find that I can't help laughing out loud every time I think of "Field of Dreams" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"!

Funnyfunnyfunny. It had one of the best sex scenes in any movie. Did you ever see a show on Nickelodeon called Kablaam?  They had a similar stop action doll segment with a title something like "Action League Now" whcih had a simnilar feel.  The dolls were action heroes.  Of course, a friend of mine and I had done this in the early 90's.  We did a 10 minute movie of the story of the exodus using Star Trek figurines (including a klingon as Pharoh) and the little tykes people as the slaves. The burning bush took place on the stove and the parting of the red sea took place in a double sink. It was so politically incorrect that Bill Maher would blush.

sounds pretty funny.  that kind of stuff is great to look back on and laugh at years later.  i have been living with a buddy of mine for the past few months and every tuesday night a few friends stop by and jam in the basement.  afterwards they burn the session onto cd and listen to what was going on.  two weeks ago one brought over some of the movies that were made and we watched those instead of listening to the session and they were hysterical.  they were about 15 minutes long and titles like 'suave karate' and the 'knuckle church'. we laughed for a while watching these guys act like boobs and not caring at all.

Ha!  Didn't notice that it was comedies.

Yah, but Tuco in "The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly" definetly made me laugh a few times.

"When you have to shoot, just shoot, don't talk"

And at the end after Lee Van Cleef is killed and he motions with the shovel to Clint, like he doesn't know how to use one.

On thread topic, the movie "Waiting" definetly wasn't great, but the game they played at the restaurant & the different positions made me laugh til my sides hurt.

Had me one of them newfangled videocameras.  Its long since dead.  We had been Satirizing the passover seder for years.  We had written a number of songs that we had begun singing at our mock seders, "a long long time ago, I can still remember, Yul Brenner used to make me cry..."  We had rewritten the pages of the typical Maxwell House Haggadah that you got at the grocery store, "That's Sophies House of Bondage!" That evolved into a raucous drinking party that was nominally a seder where my brother brought an electric piano to provide music and we had cups 1a,2b 3c  etc. of wine and basically killed dozens of bottles of wine.  My friend and co-writer Steve found plagues ie. rubber insects and dead babies, in drawers, his refrigerator etc for weeks thereafter.  The movie seemed like a logical next step.
