My online registration for Sunday Intermediate has been sent.
PDGA# 23365

Just noticed that we've got a 942 rated player playing Intermediate. I checked out the Bowling Green thread, & I guess the rule is that the player gets a 2 week extension on their old rating if they pre-registered. I guess we'll all get to see how we stack up against an Advanced player. (even if the rating was only from 1 tournament) :nike:

That guy also won the River Cities Rumble.  Only one round, rated 973.

It's all good. I plan on playing up a few times this year as long as my game isn't totally crap anyhow.

Bring it on! :fxloc:

Bruce Brakel

It is the rule this year. :bs:  Maybe they will think up a better rule for next year.

i noticed kenny g is signed up for the rec division - i would evaluate how much of a rec player he is before he crushes the competition

With the PDGA.com working like government-employed janitors, it's kind of hard to evaluate anything.  [Please don't take offense if you are a hard-working government janitor.  I was talking about myself circa 1978-1982.]  Last year we paid attention to the non-members at the top of rec.  We discussed that if anyone was bagging we could always give them a PDGA membership as part of their payout.  No one was actually bagging, though.

Whinning Rec player

When a person registers as Rec, wins Rec, and then beats the best score in Int. as well.

(sorry about the edits to your post, I ment to quote & hit modify instead. I think I got your words back right....)

I wouldn't call Kenny a bagger.  I think he's a good guy and a pretty good player. Also, I really was not looking for any conflict, yet, I found...I looked at the last three IOS tournaments, Fairfield, Waukegan and Streamwood.  Kenny is not a PDGA member and has no rating.  His rounds, compared to rated players were:
Fairfield         921    911
Waukegan     883    875
Streamwood   891    918

His average for these three would be:   899.83

I didn't bother to look further back.

He would be a pretty solid intermediate and is pretty consistent.  There is not a lot of variation.  He had no round below 875 which is the rec/int border.  Of the registered int players for this year's IOS#1 he would be 5th of 17 in rating.  Of the registgered rec players he is currently Numbah #1.

Can I enter the Brass side bet pool and put my money on Kenny?

Mike S

After the new ratings come out, mine should allow me to play in the Junior Girls division without anyone calling me a bagger.

good research dave, maybe the club can take a dollar out of the rec players course fee, or one of those other  fees that adds up to 13 dollars to buy kenny a pdga membership, but until then i think he can play where he wants, just because there isnt really a rule forbidding it

You can only bet on yourself in the brass sidebet game.   ::)

The club officers discussed this issue in a general way a lot last year but never needed to do anything.  Last year's biggest rec bagger [cough=nick] Cough! [/cough] never would have had a PDGA rating over 875.  We'll probably discuss it some more.

[I'm an officer of the other club that helps put on these events.]

Now why in the world would I want to do that.  It would be like betting on the Cubs.  I'm not good but  I'm not stupid.

The non-member winner of Rec is going to win himself a new PDGA membership as part of his winnings!  ;D
