I checked out some of the results from this tourny and was kind of surprised at some of the scores. I know this course is bit tough. I also spoke with a few people that said this tournament and the New London one had terrible payouts. It was $45 for an advanced player. Wonder where most of the money was going???

Any insight by someone who attended or heard of the tourny results/payouts?

I know Neal, Nick, & Bryan attended New London.

I discussed payouts with Nick online one Sunday night. He played Intermediate for $35.00. They got a Star Disc & T-shirt for the player pack. I'm guessing this was a WI Tour event so $5.00 comes off the top. He finished 4th of 15 in Intermediate. I recall him saying he got somewhere in the ball park of 30 funny but I could be wrong. I'll ask him tonight. I thought that was pretty good considering the player pack & the new PDGA payout charts that pay deeper & flatter.

Bryan on the other hand finished t-9th out of 17 players. He walked away with a whopping 4 funny after splitting it with the other guy. Actually I thik they decided to play it off so he got nothing out of the deal.

I just want to make one thing clear - most of Ken Kreie's events are NOT Wisconsin Tour events.  Please be careful when discussing the reputation of the Wisconsin Tour and the events it likes to hold in the highest regards.

Ken in fact requested that all 10 or so of his events he's hosting this year be part of the WI Tour.  The Tour Coordinators decided that was too many for one person (and area) to host so he was granted the Fox Valley Open (Kaukauna) and the Eagle Open (Telulah) as tour stops.  Unfortunately I feel like the Kaukauna course is one of the weakest courses in the Fox Valley but it's no longer my tournament to run, it's Ken's.

Star plastic isn't the cheap stuff.  Big player packs always take a big bite out of payouts.  With a star disc and a t-shirt for a player pack, I'd be surprised to get a payout at most tournaments.  That and the PDGA fee adds up to $30 to $35 right there.  There is more than one right way to run a tournament.  And there is nothing wrong with figuring out who runs tournaments you like and then playing those, and then playing league and doing the yard work on the other weekends.

At the IOS events this year, if you want to play for more payout, you can spend your player pack brass on the am sidebet.  On Advanced Saturday Diana will be taking names and collecting the brass.  On Int/Rec Sunday I'll be running the sidegame.  On either day it is one sidegame open to all amateurs and to all pros playing in an amateur division that day.  So it might not be the best bet for women or rec players, but usually the guys at the top of rec also would have been at the top of intermediate.

That pack was for the Sunday event (New London). On Saturday at the Menasha Open the player pack was a t-shirt and a disc...a DX disc. No special stamp, just a plain DX disc. The Pin High Tour is advertised as the first 60 ams to register get a t-shirt and disc. So ams should assume if they are getting these items it is coming out of payout?

I know the Intermediate women who tied for first. The first place person got $8 and a trophy, second place got $4 and a trophy. There were 6 girls in the division. The trophies were "picture frame" trophies. They paid $35 each to play.

I suppose I should look at the payout schedules to be more informed and understand a little better.

Always assume that a player pack comes out of the payout. The money has to come from somewhere. At the IOS we take $10 out of the payout for the $15 brass player pack.

I went to menasha and placed tenth.  for the pack i recieved a DX Orc and a T-Shirt.  for tenth place i recieved a pro disc and a "come play the New London open tomorrow".  I don't know what this funny business is, this was only my second tournament.

Brett nick got 4 dollars, not even enough for a dx disc.  He was talking about the guy who got 2nd in ADV got 35.  Not very good payouts but not bad player packs.
