it's also marked as a red tee, and the cement tee is blue/white.  From what Brett has posted before about the tees there, they won't play at any of the reds.  I've always been afraid of throwing from that tee.  I've already lost one disc that I really liked to hole 19, and I don't want to lose another!

Still can't get that hole in less than 4 from the blue/white tee though... and I've only had 4 twice.  I usually throw 5 or 6.  Painful.

If I play Lombard, I will have to play on Saturday as advanced masters.  Does Discraft have any discs that float in that Pro D plastic? ;D :P

Although it the over water shot isn't that far, for Rec/Jr/Women divisions, there may be quite a few that won't throw over that much water as they might lose a disc. I wouldn't recommend using it for those divisions (at least not without a safe route that doesn't take them over the water).
Jon and Brett are primarily responsible for decisions about tee assignments.  We try to play all players on a particular day from the same tees so that all players can get ratings.  They pick tees that they want to play and that they think most other players on their day want to play.

If there is a tee that Jon wants to play that might not work for rec women or junior girls, and we have some of them playing, we'll probably give them some kind of bail out option on that hole.  If the short tee on hole 19 just does not have a go-around route, we could create a drop zone for discs that land o.b. in the pond AND for discs that land in a special o.b. area behind the tee.  Anyone who does not want to sacrifice a disc can take her penalty and go to the drop zone.

I don't know what they have announced for tees.  Once Jon prints the scorecards it is kind of carved in stone.

It's listed as everyone playing the long tee on #19, all divisions, all rounds.

Unless it's really windy, it shouldn't be hard to just go way left of the short tee and avoid the water. It's actually more of a danger going into the water on a subsequent shot from the long tee.

I'm not clear on the 'special o.b. area *behind* the tee' though.

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??

Bruce Brakel

The o.b. behind the tee is just a way to legally allow someone to not sacrifice a disc to the Lady of the Lake, but still advance to the drop zone as if he had.  I don't know what the short tee position looks like on 19 because we did not play it any of the times I've played the course.  If a lefty junior girl had no way to get over or around the pond and we were using that tee, she could drop her drive o.b. behind the tee and advance to the drop zone with a penalty, just as if she had thrown it in the pond.

I really hate it when a dude who sells discs designs the course to sell more discs.  I know last year having that pond right near tournament central sold some discs, but from the long tee anyone can play safe and save $8 - $18.

OK, maybe not the greatest idea for some divisions on Sunday, but how many courses around here have a water shot?

Bruce Brakel

I'm not against the idea.  You really have to get Jon and Brett's attention, though.  Course routing is their call.

If it was a true risk/reward shot then I'd be for it. I'd rather just play the regular long #19 tee. There aren't very many par 4 holes around and I'd like to keep it on the course. The shot across the water is just a regular shot. If you happen to shoot very poorly then you get extra penalized. Playing around the water from short 19 is an option for people that can't make it over but for 90% of the Sunday players it won't really be a risk/reward type of situation.

Adding any extra holes?  I'm also assuming we are playing at least one round from the Blue tees on saturday.

Is hole #20 the same as last year...behind the pine trees?

CEValkyrie

Adding 1 hole possibly 2.

O.k., I can confirm that I can do 25 Throw Discraft player packs each day.  Each one will be a tournament stamped Hot Rags' Surge and a stock stamped Pro D disc.  The selection on stock stamped Pro D discs includes Buzzzes, Wasps, Rattlers, Challengers, Strati, Cyclones, Crushes, and maybe some others, while supplies last.
Is that going to be an am only players pack?
For ten dollars more, any pro can get the "$10 value" amateur player pack at any IOS.  You have to see me at the merch table for that during registration.  So for $10 any pro can get the Throw Discraft player pack, while supplies last.
is that for the first 30 pre registered or the first 30 to actually be at the course? It will be 25 each day; the first 25 to check in and ask for it.
a trophy only advanced gets a surge and d-disc for 14 dollars? Yeah!  :o
Wait is there still the let it ride?  Or do you just get the discs. If you want the Throw Discraft player pack and you want to Let It Ride, I'll sell you a second player pack for $10.  If you want the brass player pack and don't want the Throw Discraft player pack, that is cool too.

I'm pretty excited about this.  It just came together this afternoon.  Whether we can get more deals like this from Discraft is just going to depend on how much Discraft players take for prizes and player packs.
I checked with Jon to figure out how to make this work, so this is what we're going to do.  We're going to make the Throw Discraft player pack available by pre-registration.  This is what you have to do to pre-register for a Throw Discraft player pack consisting of a Surge and a Pro D disc of your choice:

1. Pre-register for the tournament.
2. Watch the pdga.com tour page for when Brett processes your pre-reg.
3. When you see your name on the PDGA pre-reg list, send me an e-mail titled "Throw Discraft"
4. Give me your name, PDGA number and division in the e-mail.

The deadline on this is the Wednesday before the tournament.

I'm going to make 50 Throw Discraft Player Pack vouchers and they will be attached to your registration cards when you check in.  I'll let you all know when each day is out.

They are already marked on the ground with blue posts (flush with the ground).  They are all on the tee signs, with distances marked.  A lot of them are the same.

What was the par last year for Intermediate? 60 if it was 20 holes that were played right?

Bruce Brakel

Brett will probably flag the longs the day before the tournament.  They are not hard to find.  Last year we played two rounds of 20 holes each day.  We play every hole is par 3.  Usually when we do longs and shorts, we do longs first so the TD can have more time in the morning to do the morning TD stuff.

Thanks, I was asking because I wanted to compare my results with last years.  Was it a bad day because scores don't seem to be thaaaat hot.
