Damon,

You bring up some very valid points. I'm not exactly sure what rules will be used. I posted very early about getting rules for the Safari set.

Just throwing this out there.

What if there is a playoff & 1 of the players who ties for an overall payout prize does not attend the final Safari? I'm also not really big on having a playoff at a later date either.

I would like to thank all of you who continue to support the Safari Series. It has been a huge fundraiser for the club.

I would like to apologize to everyone for starting late & and providing above par service. Due to lack of organization, DISContinuum was not prepared for today.

I also apologize to those who played in my group today (Adrain, Bruce, & Jon). I was not much fun to be around today.

Due to the lack of quality service, all participants of today's Safari will play for free at the next event.

Mirth took official notes & vote totals at the meeting. He'll get them online when he gets a chance.

We took so many votes on the $2.00 Option, they all ran together. Let me know if my info is accurate.

For the Safari, there will be NO $2.00 Option. If you show up and want to play with a group, you have to pay the full $7.00 fee(club member) or $10.00 fee(non club member). If you do not pay the fee, you will be asked to be a spectator if you want to hang around & socialize with a group. You will not be allowed to throw with the particiapting groups. You are either in or out.

Regardless of what the right way to score is, I think it's a little late to change the scoring format for the safari series.  As of now, everyone is expecting the scoring system that we had already set up.  Let's talk about future events and keep the current scoring system in place for the time being.  All systems have advantages & disadvantages anyway so any system we choose is gonna have a flaw of some sort.

jason

i agree with jimbo on the total scoring.

shawn

How are you calculating the scores?  Do you get points for winning? or showing up?  Or just total under par?

Brett you have game, don't underestimate your potential.  I have been playing seriously for the last 3 years and the practice is starting to pay off, I feel that I'm a solid Advanced player with potential to go Pro when I get my rating over 970.  If I could only putt....consistantly...

I'm really looking forward to playing some of the IL courses.  I love playing blind, just tell me where to throw and how far and I will try to get it there.
Let us hope that the whores of evil no longer loiter on the doorsteps of your path beckoning you into the brothel of despair, and that here and after may present them with the most rigid manistfestation of a firm and manly will.

OK, from reading the OPS stuff, we plan on playing for total score?  I guess I will be making the 7 short courses instead of playing the harder ones......I'm trying to be sarcastic...can you tell?

I'm going with the new amatuer rating system by the PDGA.  You need a 925 to be a advanced player.  My rating is 932....I'd say I just made it.  If I play with real Pros, I can stay with them for a while but then my amatuer player will show up and ruin it for me.  When we run a sanctioned event, you will see many good players.  I have a few friends with ratings above 990, thats 6 strokes better then me on an 18 hole course, that makes me sick..

The fairest way is to drop a few of the lowest scores, but how you score it is the biggest question to being fair.   IMO we should get points for how many people that you beat.  The Wisconsin tour does this well http://www.widiscsports.com/standings02.html

I know that if we go by score that it will be a wash out for players that don't make the short courses.  Some of the longer courses, there will be many people not shotting under par.  If we do some posting of the series at the courses involved we should have a good showing of skilled players.  Brett is right last year was close in scoring, would not have been if we keeped scores.

Hey, the scoring is fine if your a good player, not If your average....  The whole issue that You (Jim) brought up is that the event was for FUN...  Well, we will see how fun it is for most people when they are down by 15 strokes after the first event.   It will happen, will they play another event?....doudt it.  This is the issue that I have tried to change since day 1.  After trying to change the issue that everyone OK'ed for the 2nd or 3rd time, I gave up.  Hell, they must know better.

By the way, what was wrong with the way it was scored last year?  and Jim what is your reason for having total score?   I am pointing you out because everytime I brought this up you stated that it was for "FUN".   Sorry, but disc golf at a higher caliber is not always Fun, it is competitive.  This is all my opinion, please rip on it as you need too.

Kind of knew this would happen, and as the willershins champ, I would love If you could change this 1 so I can give the new champ the trophy.  I will be at Standing Rocks also as this is the best event ever.

July 5  Mad City Open (AM) Madison Mike Newhouse 608-245-3931  I imagine that it will be played at Heistand since Mike's store is next door and he is the main sponsor.  Great payouts with anything that Mike runs, he's awesome.

July 26  Rumbletown (Am/Adv) Milwaukee Joe Weinshel 262-644-2234

Aug 16/17 WI State Overalls Madison Brad Wendt 608-246-2174  I heard a rumor that overalls might not be at Heistand, should her more later in the year.

june 21/22   Pickle Open Sheboygan Ryan Hornickle 920-208-3633  Saturday must be AM's.

I'm looking for a car pool leaving the Kenosha area... perferably a comfortable vehicle with a cup holder and an ashtray.  Jim, is this the same course that we went to for that tournament?  If I remember it kicked my arse last time.  Anyone know the WCP of this course?
