and oh yeah; I wouldn't even think of playing the long tees for Safari. They're not all well-marked and none of them have cement, so it'd be even sloppier than it already is.

Was out in Lombard today and can report that it's drying up really well; if there's not much rain before then it should be in really good shape.

There's a Saturday doubles league that starts there again the beginning of April, I think at 10 am. It's completely random-draw so the teams can sometimes get pretty stacked; most but not everyone is 'playing for fun', if you get my drift...

I'll be out of town the next two weekends - flying to NY on Sat for a couple of gigs, than a family thing the weekend after. So I won't be at leagues on Sunday for awhile - see y'all in Lombard on the 12th.
thanks,
Damon

Nope, they've switched it already to Wednesday nights. But I plan on being out there around 10 am on Sat anyhow if anyone wants to shoot early. I'm going to get some lunch before the Safari round though.

Course is in pretty good shape considering the snow earlier this week. I was out there today, managed to play two consecutive rounds below par for the first time ever out there... Winter golf was good for something.... ;)

Then Bruce and I went to Madison Meadows and played a round. I shot 2 over and Bruce shot 1 down. Bruce thinks 3 down will win tomorrow. We both enjoyed the course and look forward to playing tomorrow.

Depends on the wind. The bigger arms should be able to shoot 6-8 down if it's not too windy. Think it's to be c. 14 mph tomorrow. Even *I* shot 1 down twice yesterday but it was dead calm.

Well, the first round was even (I actually parred every single hole) but I choked on a very makeable putt and counted the 2nd one since no one was looking....;)

Are the results from this month going up on the website anytime soon?

it also sounded like there was a fair amount of interest in that am tourney at Tendick on that day; I'd vote for rescheduling if it can get put up on the website quickly. Seems like turnout anywhere might not be too good...

OK, I can see where rescheduling it might not be a great idea either; after all, there are 12 events scheduled, and one can choose to play or not play on any given event and still get 7 in during the year, so if there's a conflict, tough darts or whatever.

It's a shame that there's this much of a conflict on this particular month though, since Token sounds like the best course of the lot (I've never played it). I'd have pushed at the meeting to get it switched w/ Streamwood regardless of whether Token is in (seemed simpler to do this a month ago), but I never made it to the meeting, so tough darts on me...

Re: the monthly meeting, that should be more flexible. As Brett is the Grand Poobah and won't be there (not to mention the Grand Poobah Emeritus and however many board members...), postponing the meeting doesn't seem like a big deal.

How flat is the course in Rockford? Jay, I've got a pair of crutches from when I broke my ankle a few years ago; I can bring them (hoping I won't need them myself....)

I played Jay "Bird" Mathes's private course last week.  He invited me out to the Sinnissippee.  Anybody know when that is?  Anybody from Discontinuum going?

I'd like to, but since that would make my 5th consecutive out-of-town weekend and it's also my wedding anniversary, it's unlikely.

Although, come to think of it, Parkside June 1 and Rockford Safari June 14th are only day trips, so maybe. Won't know til at least mid-June, though... Peoria the wknd of the 7th may well do me in ;p

I only played that course in Sterling (about 2 hrs W of Chicago) about 4 yrs ago and hadn't been playing that long, but I remember it was a nice one. Some minor hills and creek(s), trees/brush but no woods. Most of the holes have alternate pin placements and as I recall multiple tees for most as well. I've been wanting to get back out there but it hasn't worked out.

I'd probably play ams on Saturday though; Bruce, I imagine you'd want to play on Sunday.

Who wants to car pool to Vollrath Park in Sheboygan, WI?

...

Looks like a 2 hour ride from my house. I'd be willing pick up @ 8:30AM on Grand & 9:00AM in Kenosaha to get there a little eary to check the park out.

Let me know if you are interested.

I'm going up the night before w/ my nephew Tim so we'll be hitting the course early on Sat. Brett, give me a call when you get there (773-988- 5998 ). Keep in mind that Vollrath is usually *packed* on summer weekends.

We're looking at hitting the Manitowoc course after the Safari round. It's about another 30 minute drive north of Sheboygan. Very cool course. (I'm going to play the tourney up there on the 20th instead of Joliet this year.)

QuoteMyndCraft (07-07-2003 09:12 a.m.):

Jon is correct. There is no clear rule on bumbing a player. I do believe the rule states that whoever wins the lower division for the year has to play upper in the next years series. As far as during the current season, no such rule exists.

The case with Shawn C was special in that there was no competition. He was beating the lower field by a huge margin and on some occasions would have taken 1st in the upper anyways.

As far as Damon goes, while he has been winning it hasn't been utter and total domination.

I completely agree. My almost-totally-crappy results in sanctioned tournaments this year are a pretty convincing argument that I'm not sandbagging anyone. None of us tore up Rockford, for example; I was just a tad less 'unlucky' than the others.

Believe me, if I wind up winning this thing - and there's a *long* way to go - I'll be delighted to play upper from then on.

Even with a lead, there's an incentive to show up every month to finish ahead of those who are trailing you. For example, Steve finished 1st in Madison when I wasn't there, so he can ultimately drop one of his low finishes elsewhere after exceeding 7 rounds (he might well have finished 1st anyhow, but you get my point I hope).

Implementing a hard and fast bump rule would be tricky. Suppose you hit the limit on the last tournament? Would you tank a few strokes to make sure you got 'enough' points but not 10? ;)

Damon
