Josh,

You can see Tag No. 5 and I at the HPC Memorial Disc Golf Tournament. I will do my best not to let you take it. Give it your best shot.

So here's the plan for Safarri. I'm going to show up and play my best round ever. Everyone else should show up with broken legs or arms, because frankly my best game ain't that good :-) Anyways that way I'll keep tag 1 and get a much needed 10 points for safarri!

Hey Jay, let's just make sure we're on the same card Saturday. I'll challenge you and the worst either of us will wind up is #2 and we can continue our delusion for at least another day.

Collusion is a wonderful thing ;)

In an absolutely shocking development, Shawn took the #1 tag at Channahon today.

Shawn also aced #8 during an extra round w/ Jason and myself. It was a big hyzer that seemed to disappear behind the trees only to suddenly materialize in the basket.

This was the 3rd ace I've witnessed so far this year. (I saw two on New Year's Day in Geneseo - on the same basket but from two completely different tee placements.)

I keep hoping that I'm gathering enough karma to finally get one of the damn things myself...
thanks,
Damon

actually, I was wondering why you were putting when I finally got to the basket... see, I really was tired that last round.

It would be nice to have plastic rubbery tags, that don't clank or make noise.

Bagtag condoms!! Could be a new, um, growth industry...

I thought we'd established that a tiebreaker in a Safari round was irrelevant as far as tags went (I'd brought this up earlier and I think that's what Jay said).

It would seem to me that in this scenario, the tied players in a 3-way (or 4-way, etc) would keep the same pecking order, i.e. Jay would still have the better tag after the smoke cleared.

Bagtag Adventures in Lombard

I lost #2 to Bruce (previously #5 I think) in the Safari round; Jon (#4?) and I tied.

Then there was a momentary rift in the cosmic fabric.

Shawn (#1), Bruce, Jim (#7?), Danny & I played an extra round. It had actually been a relief to get the target off my back by losing the #2 tag earlier, but then Shawn had at least 2 dead-in putts spit out, and I wound up winning the 2nd round by a stroke.

Although it was a bit satisfying to avenge my loss to Bruce, considering he'd won the side bet w/ Jon on my score from the Safari round ;) - which wound up being the same score in the 2nd round...

so Shawn has #2, Bruce #4, and Jim successfully defended #7.

...and here I am with #1. I know it won't last long, but it's entertaining.

Soooo, I'll see everyone in January.....

Started out the day with #11, and somehow ended up taking home #9 after it was all said and done.  I don't think anyone in the group was more surprised than me!

Nice going, Steve!

I got #12 from Jay Friday night at the Yulga course in Stevens Point. I momentarily would've had Jim's tag after a round there Saturday night, but since we were doing a total-score thing for Standing Rocks he kept it - #7?

Who's got the top 5?   I know Jojo still had #3 as of Saturday night, but I'm not up-to-speed on who has 1, 2, 4, and 5.

I'll volunteer to set up another page on the site to keep relatively updated tag standings - I can even help w/ the Safari standings as I know Jay's been swamped w/ real work lately. I'd need a little walkthru (and access permissions) from Mirth or someone; my 'skill set' isn't at webmaster level but I think I can handle it as a currently unemployed DBA (and permanently underemployed musician, not to mention perpetually inconsistent disc golfer...)

I'll reiterate my offer to keep a Bagtag challenge page at the meeting Sunday, which I hope won't last too long as I wanna go to Parkside after and play anybody for a tag (currently #12);)

Frankly, after my shot in the CTP for Safari points Sunday, Jay not only earned the better tag, he can have the disc I smashed into the pole 25 feet off the tee, too.  :)  Hyzering an an overstable disc and having it turn over into a pole is just bad karma anyway.  :)

Besides, that just gives me incentive to show up for Spring League Sunday and upgrade my tag with someone else's.  ;)

See you then!

ochreogre

Bag Tags #6 and #18 changed hands today!  Twice.

Thanks to the nice weather and a generous amount of good fortune at Parkside, I managed to beat JOsh by one stroke and took tag #6.  He, grudingly, accepted #18 with a snarl and a mumble...

This is not to say that JOsh did not beat the snot out of me on the next round (ok, only by 4 strokes) and take #6 back, so I once again have #18.  :)

Nice rounds JOsh!

ochreogre

Yeah, well, don't get too comfortable with it...  ;)

ochreogre

I started with #9, lost it to Jay at the second Safari and picked up #18.

Beat JOsh for #6, then promptly lost it again on the following round.  So I still have #18...again.  And I am looking forward to (hopefully) getting a better number come Saturday.  :)
