The ace pool is currently at 580 or something.  Jon has the exact number.  It will get up to $750 Saturday at Rockford and then we'll cap it and start a reserve ace pool.  These are the cap rules:

No Aces:  Both ace pools roll over to Sunday
One Ace:  $750.  Reserve rolls over to Sunday.
Two Aces: $375 each. Reserve rolls over to Sunday.
Three or more aces: Both ace pools are combined and split equally by shares.  A player with two aces would get two shares.

The ace pool splits all day on multiple aces.  A morning ace splits with an afternoon ace.

we got mulch laid around every single tee pad on the old side and the baskets should be changed into their tournament position within the next two weeks.  if you folks want a particular hole in a certain position say the word, nothing is written in stone yet...

This is how the USADGC qualifying will go at Rockford:

The top 20% in Advanced who are not already qualified will qualify.  You must play in the Advanced division to qualify.  A lot of our really good am players are going to qualify at Michiana, so qualification could drop pretty deep.

We are averaging 54 advanced players per tournament, but we just promoted a dozen northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin intermediate and rec players to advanced, so that number is going up.  Rockford will qualify 12 to 14 Advanced players going maybe to 16th or 17th place in the field, maybe deeper.  It looks to me like 930 rated disc golf will qualify.

If you qualify, remind Jon that we have to e-mail in the results by Monday after the tournament to guarantee your spot.

More Rockford Stuff.

We are planning on setting up the old course with four extra holes.  The new course will be played in whatever configuration Greg arranges for the tournament with no extra holes.  So the tournament will be 22-18 or 18-22 depending on your division.

We are limiting the field to two pools of 72 players each day, 144 - 144.  No fivesomes!!!  We may need a longer lunch hour than normal to process that many players, but we want to let in as many players as possible.  There will be a 72 player limit in the Advanced division.  I would not be surprised if we hit that cap since we are likely to draw players from Peoria, the Quad Cities and Madison who don't normally come to our Chicago events.  On Sunday we will divide up the divisions in a way that gets as many players as possible on the courses.  Rec and Intermediate men will be opposite pools.  Women and Juniors may be in either pool.

The two pools will finish their morning rounds at different times.  Therefore, they will start their second round player meetings at different times.

We had 167 players last year.  We are seeing about 50% growth in our events this year over last year, so 250 players this year could happen.  Pre-registering helps us get scores on-line faster and it helps us with making trophies in advance.  We may do something special each day for one pre-registered player.  Stay tuned on that.

one thought i had for the new course is taking out alot of the short holes in the back nine and placing them in different parts of the park to extend the course, reduce congestion, and ultiamtely have better golf shots.  so this is going to require the four extra baskets for the old side and probably six for the new side, 10 baskets all together.

would this effort be worth it or would you all rather play the new side as is?

feedback is appreciated!

I'm ready to go with that artwork.  Send it to Erich or Keith at Discraft.  I'll be calling them today.  They need a hi-res version.

Greg, consult with Brett on the extra holes or course redesign.  Brett usually sets up extra holes.  He brings baskets.  Extra holes are a lot of work and they present opportunities for things to get effed up.  Brett sounded like he was volunteering to do four extras for 18-22.  You and Brett need to figure out what you are doing over the next couple of weeks so that Jon can do scorecards.

Just a reminder that Am Worlds ends on that Saturday, so the turnout may not be as expected.

Actually, Am Worlds is one of the best weekends to run an event around here. There are very few that are attending Worlds in Tulsa. Next year we will not try to compete with Worlds though ;).

What we have found, and I really hate to give away our trade secret information for free like this, is that a lot of TDs avoid "Big Event" weekends, like Worlds and USDGC and some of the NTs that fill up.  That leaves players with fewer options and us with fewer tournaments splitting the player base.  Those are our best weekends.

I went through the Worlds pre-reg list.  For Rockford we're losing Jim Bassett and Neal Swanson.  That is about the same number of players we lost to the Great Lakes Open.  For Rockford we might need to lose Swanson and Bassett to accomodate 288 other players who want to play.
----------------

Rockford stamped discs will include D, Soft X and Elite X Challengers, D and Cryztal Z Buzzzes, Flashes, Avengers and GT Drivers.  The Elite X Challengers will be the trophy discs.  The D-Challengers and D-Buzzzes will be available as D-discs in the Throw Discraft Player pack.
----------------

To Jon and Jo-Jo:  I'll have the IOS Overall trophy discs by Peoria.  These will be uncolored Z-Buzzzes with the 2006 IOS stamp.  Dumb me:  Keith said, "These are part of the sponsorship deal right?"  I failed to say, "Right."  I reflexively gave him an honest answer.   ::)  I said, "All you were sponsoring on these was the whiteness."

old is east - more open, rolling faiways, longer holes, great baskets

new is west - tighter, more wooded, more shade

I was there yeesterday.  The mulch was very helpful.  Thanks.  Some of the A, B signs were wrong, but you guys are changing baskets soon anyway.

when i talked to the park distrcit last i left off with them under the impression that they would dump a yard behind every tee pad and we would be responcible for spreading it.  it was a nice suprise to see that they took the initiative to do some of that work.  i think i still may ask them to lay a yard by some of them though, because over the years some of those teepads have really eroded the surrounding area.

Greg and Brett are working on course design for the Rockford IOS, Forest City Frenzy II.  I heard that they were thinking maybe 22 holes on the old course and 20 on the new.  We will still be limiting the field to foursomes.  I'll let you know more as I know more.

yea, we both felt that changing the new side drastically would confuse some, piss off others, and generally make more work for what will could potentially be a very active weekend.  so what we have decided on so far is adding four to the old side and adding two to the new side, leaving the new sides 18 baskets the way they are.  this could change again but i think that it wont deviate too far from what we decided on yesterday.
