The Waterford Brakel girls are all coming.  I'm not sure how the death of Emily's father and the disruption that caused to everyone's vacation plans will affect which of the rest are coming.

Kiralyn, Jenny and Emily are all intermediate women now so that is where they will be playing, as many as are attending.  Sarah has been playing league.  If she's coming she is intermediate too.  The Rachels and Alyssa will play Rec women if any of them are coming.

alrighty folks, i saw a bunch of you out here this weekend - i hope you all enjoyed the park and the nice weather.  if that was your one chance to practice here before the tournament i apologize for not having the baskets on the old side moved for you - but i did get a confirmation as to when they will be moved and that will be this wednesday night arounf 6pm, or whenever the keymaster gets to the course.  hopefully a handful of you can come out this wednesday for our 6pm get-together and see the hole configurations, if not, anytime between then and the tournament they should be in place and ready to be played!

its not horrible - you may have to play through some larger groups but it wont get much worse than that.  the old side gets played alot more than new side and as the day goes on more people populate the park, so if you want to avoid the crowds you may want to play the old side first.

I explained the USADGC thing incorrectly, here or in e-mail, I'm not sure where.

According to Pad at Discraft the invitations go to the top 20% in advanced, no more than 20 players, irrespective of previous qualifying.  So spots don't bump down.  That's too complicated.  We're probably qualifying ten or 15 players, but if you good intermediates take a shot at it, some of you will get hot and qualify, and some of you will serve as qualification fodder for the rest.  $15 for trophy only and a $750 ace pool so why not try?  I qualified a couple of years ago and it still gives me warm feelings.   ;D  Brett, on the other hand, still has nightmares.  He wakes up screaming, "Turn right dammit!!!"   :o  I don't have nightmares because I was not foolish enough to actually play the tournament.   ::)

Also, they will be giving us some free USADGC stuff which will go to the highest scoring qualifier.  He was vague on how much stuff or what I should do with it.  "You know, whatever Todd put in the package, its what you get.  Its free.  Give it away."  I think it is two Super Color discs and some Qualification Certificates, but whatever it is, someone is going to get it.

at wham bam it was 2 or 4 super color discs and a bunch of ultra stars(i'm pissed i didn't get one)

Pad said today at the factory/office that if the Wham Bam bumped spots down and they should not have, those players are in. Then Pad and I read the USADGC stuff slowly, giving especial emphasis to the nouns and verbs.  We came to the conclusion that spots do bump down.  Because this IOS is coming late in the season, we might have some pre-qualified players bumping spots down.

If by playing Advanced I make for a multiple of 5 + 1 more, I'll play advanced so we can give away one more spot.  If by me not playing but just helping out all day we can let in a lot more Advanced players, I'll not play and help Jon with the extra players.

I've played the Tobbogan at three tournaments, maybe four, plus several cash doubles rounds.  I've won there playing bs doubles with Juliana as my partner.  I've been humbled by the course many times.  It is one course that will test you in every way.

At Wham Bam, spots did bump down.  There were 60 players which meant 12 would qualify.  Ben and like 5 other people finished 19th.  7 players in front of Ben already qualitifed, so Ben and the other people he tied received invites.  If there is a tie for the last spot, everyone who ties gets in.  Seeing how so many people had already qualified by Wham Bam, I'm guessing that at Rockford, the bump will go way down.  That means it's a really good tourney for people to play if they haven't qualified but want to!

oh yea!  those baskets got moved on the old side last night and thereafter we had about 20 people for our weekly wednesday night 6pm get-together.  i shot it singles last night with another buddy on a bag tag challenge and both of us as well as everyone else liked the positions that were set up - hope you folks do to.  the front nine has a handful of easy dueces, both for right and left handers.  the back nine is simply par golf with 11, 14, 15, 16, and 18 in the long positions - so get those two's when you can!

Went out there today to practice.  First time playing those courses.  WOW.  What a geat place to play.  I played the cement tee course twice and the dirt once.  Hide baskets much???  Played with a local who showed me some of the routes.  Shot +3 twice on the cements and +1 off the dirt.  Was really happy with that.  These have got to be the best courses I've played.  Challenged every part of my game.  I can't wait for the tournament.  It's too bad it's 1.5 hrs away from me.  btw  was the course designed by a lefty or is it just me?

thanks for the compliments on the course - its not like i designed it or anything but i do like hearing that people like it!  a few of us spent some hours trimming and maintaing both sides.  both sides will be looking the best they have ever been - i garuntee it.  i am guessing that we moved about a 1000 pounds an hour of loose limbs, dead tree debris, and other things.  so expect all the fairways and brush to be void of nasty and rotten wood, litter, and all the other things that arent fun to step on or look at.

as far as the lefty friendly design - i wouldnt go as far as saying that it is super lefty friendly although there are several simple lefty hyzers to play.  if you want a score for the day it'll require every shot you got.  singles scores have been hoovering around even on either side for most players if that says anything.

in these next two weeks expect more and more course maitnence.  the park district has basically said that they are donating their entire crew that resides in anna page to disc golf related work.  nealry all the big things have been done so from here on out it is going to be mainly making the course look top notch - laying more wood chips, a fresh coat of paint on the kiosk, raking the new sides tee pads flat and removing any rocks from the area, etc...

Everytime I play with a righty group and kick their ass, it is always a lefty course in their eyes.

thats actually a very good excuse though if you save it for select times.  i have used it a couple times this year and i plan to use it atleast once more.

for Neal it doesn't work though cuz he thinks Fairfield is worthy of holding the USDGC.

I don't know what excuses Neal has.  I think a good brass sidebet will be the Michler/Swanson derby.  We could either bet their score or by who talks the most ferocious trash.  I wonder if the trashtalk winner will get headbutted by the trashtalk loser.  It could be the World Cup of disc golf.  Nothing against you Dan, but I have to bet the short lefty.  That being said, this is a very tough course for a lefty.  The first four holes on the original course are all big annie's.  It tempts me to use a forehand off the tee, but I know better. As tough as it is for lefties, its a great course. I hope to play a round there tomorrow.

My money is on Dan.  I'd like him to write some material for me that I could use on my opponents.

Dan Michler

i don't think its really a righty or lefty course.  there are a couple deuce holes easier for righties and there are some that are easier lefty hyzers (hole 9, 10).  hole 1 is pretty  str8 forward no matter who u are, and 2 is a par hole for everybody so lefty/righty doesn't matter.  3 is obviously a righty hole, but 4 is a crapshoot no matter who u are.

i'm not really a trashtalker though, no reason to put more pressure on yourself than is already there.

No point in betting on dan vs. neal, Neal will be in Tulsa.  otherwise i would dominate him physically, mentally, and emotionally.  ;)
