Two rounds per day for any particular player.  One day tournament.  Saturday pre-registration has reached the point where we will be running two pools per day, one on each course, then you'll switch courses for the second round.  Advanced Men will be one pool.  Everyone else will be the other pool.

We will keep Sunday in one pool if Sunday stays below 80 players.  Otherwise we'll split.  I don't mean split into two pools.  I mean take the money and run.   ;D

I'd tell you where we stand with pre-reg but pdga.com is taking a nap.

I have a ton of merch, by the way.  I ordered for two tournaments.  Peoria was almost a half tournament.  There will definately be no shortage of Star Wraiths this time, either.  I have 60 of them.

How's the stock on the Thumb Grip Z-Surge?  Anything under 170?  I'm thinking about picking up another, but don't set one to the side for me becuase I'm not 100% sure yet.

Clueless.  I have a lot of Surges but not sure which kinds.  Sold some thumb-grippers in Peoria.  Probably have some left.

Looks like we are at 142 total on pre-reg, counting what is in the store but not processed yet.  I did not go through player by player to figure out days and divisions on that.

I might be able to get over to Anna Page early Sunday. What time are you setting up? I'm sure you can always use more hands to volunteer.

We usually arrive around 7am to start setting up. If Bruce doesn't sleep well or Diana forgets they are on Central time then they get there around 6am. Brett is usually setting up the extra baskets sometime around 7am as well.

I'm really excited to see so many people pre-reged for this event. I've done more pre-work for this event than any of the others so I hope it goes smoothly.

At registration if you could have your 2006 PDGA card ready (if you are NOT pre-reged) it will help speed the registration process. We will have enough volunteers to have a pre-reg line and we'll try to keep it moving as fast as possible.

If you are pre-registered please check-in by 9am.

Can't wait to see you all at Rockford and I can't wait to play a round on Sunday! My back is at about 75% healed so assuming that we don't fill (is that even possible with two courses?!?!?!?) I'm going to play the first round and see how it goes. If somehow we fill I won't play because I don't want to DNF the second round and kick someone out who could have played the whole day.

Since I didn't start playing until late September/early October of last year, I haven't played disc golf in the mass heat like the forecast mentions for this weekend.  Anyone have some recommendations on what to do to keep yourself cool?  Does water or Gatorade seem to help you going?  I brought Propel at IOS #2, and that seemed to work well.  Perhaps I'll do that again.  At least the west course has a lot of shade!  I'm too big of a guy for one of those little stools that people carry with them, although that would seem like a good idea.  Maybe even an umbrella?

Look forward to a great day Sunday!

Just make sure to keep drinking liquids, stay in the shade if it's available when other people are shooting,  and don't make my mistake a few weekends ago in Peoria & drink something REALLY cold when you're blazing hot. Bad things can ensue.

Also, even though it seems like a good idea to bring lunch (it usually is), if you go somewhere like a Subway it helps to eat there, even if you're kinda hurrying to get back for the 2nd round, just to let the A/C cool you down.

El Mexicano

Carry an extra water bottle (32oz) with you. It always seems to run out around the 9th hole ;D.

The problem is there really isn't anything close to Anna Page.  I think there is a bar about a mile away but I have never been there.  Greg, can a disc player walk in that place?  You might eat your sandwich in your air conditioned car.

I am bringing a complete change of clothes for the second round.  I will bring a pair of Tevas.  I have played casual rounds in them and have no problem other than fighting brambles.  I might consider using them if its rediculous out there. I will freeze a few water bottles and propels the night before. These will act as ice cubes in the cooler and keep the cooler colder longer.  I will pull the one I want to use for the first round out for the drive up so the ice melts. I can't drink gatorade b/c of too much sugar but its very good for replenishment in hot hot weather.  If your body is ok processing sugar, use the gatorade. If you taste salt on your lips or if you wipe your brow and its caked with salt, you are starting to bonk-- drink more fluids and some type of sport drink like gatorade.  pack some type of energy bar and/or a piece of fruit in your bag for each round as well.  If the bar has chocolate you will have a mess.  Bring an extra towel and keep it in the car.  You may need to get it wet and just throw it over your head to get your temp down.

Mukey

I didn't find the Subway that far away but I have to concede the fact that:

1) I've never played a tourney at Anna Page & tried to drive there & get back in time

&

2) I kinda have a lead foot, especially when I know I'm on a time constraint.   ::)

If you take Riverside to the park the Subway is on the South side of the street, I'll check tomorrow morning how long & far it is from Subway to the park & let people know.

stpitner

The nearest Subway is at 3902 W Riverside.  It's 1.8 miles away from the intersection closest to the Park (Springfield & Safford).  You turn left and head north out of the parking lot and follow the road around the corner.  It's just East of the intersection of N Central Ave & Riverside.

I'll post if I can find out more info.

Thanks! I knew it was close, just didn't make it a point to mark the mileage & I was too lazy to look it up online.

Mukey

Too bad the IN State Championships are the same weekend or I know we'd have more IN players per-registered. Looks like none at this point.  :-\

Here's the easiest way to look up some of this stuff (thank you google!)

Go to http://maps.google.com

Change the type of search under the search area to "find businesses", and then you can type in the restaurant name or search for "category: Restaurants" or "category: Restaurant fast food" and then enter "N Springfield Ave & Safford Rd,rockford, il" for the second box.  Then it will give you all of the stuff that is closest to the park.  I noticed that Subway didn't come up, but there was a number of items that come up in those searches that are also by Subway (eg. Arby's)

It's a great feature to use for other tournaments too!

sorry but its a tradition, must eat at Beef-a-roo E. Riverside Dr. I used to go to Sportscore for soccer every weekend back in the day.

Jon Brakel

I haven't checked tonight but earlier today Intellicast was saying 96 high for Saturday but "only" 92 on Sunday. In my book 92 isn't too bad...just bring extra water.
