Feeling a little sadistic with those final four holes? Holy crapskis, batman!

hey, they're making money, they deserve to suffer! ;)

I'll be happy to spot, unless my rounds are so miserable that I leave in a huff... (making sure I drink beer off the course, of course...)
thanks,

just curious about #10 - is it 377 ft straight from the tee to the basket or was it measured around the swamp?

I should be playing advanced then I guess, thats around what I plan to shoot.

Nice Barney Fife impression, Jay.... ;)

Is there a pool going here?

Pros (don't forget the final 4) - -17

Adv - -13

Int - -9

Damon,

I was kind of throwing out the scores for the Final 4. I think the top pro will shot -25 for the first 36 holes.

OK, if you do that, and if there's not much wind, maybe, but I'd still say closer to -20

When will the results be posted?

I think Brett & Jon are off to Michigan by now, so probably not for awhile.

QuoteSteve (08-11-2003 11:09 a.m.):

Hey all, sounds like a blast was had.  A full field before 8AM.  That's awesome!

Who were the top finishers in the Am-Adv-Pro?  Anyone from our club do well?  Just curious.

I think it was full a little *after* 8, but it was still early.

Tim Davis was in the pro finals - so was Bingman, but Kris Hutter won by a significant margin.

Mirth placed pretty well in Am I think.  I was 2nd in Int Master (actually wouldn't have DFL'd in Adv Master) - my play was mildly disappointing but a bit above my usual tournament level... I came back from 3rd place after the 1st round and probably could've taken 1st w/o a couple of choke-holes; although in the 2nd round the other 2 guys I was chasing blew up worse than I did so I'll take what I got. Mitch W. won by 2 and it's his home course so what the heck.
thanks,

QuoteBruce (08-12-2003 12:10 a.m.):

We will probably also offer a reduced entry fee for anyone who wants to compete for the trophies and PDGA points only in their division.

(...applause)  While the plastic was quite nice, I've really got more than enough of it. The play-for-points option is a very cool one.

Quotemirth (08-12-2003 08:46 a.m.):

3 folks either didn't show, throw, and/or have fun?

While I showed (strictly speaking, 'placed'), the 2nd & 3rd categories were variables.... ;)

Great job everybody!
thanks,
Damon

QuoteMyndCraft (08-12-2003 10:30 p.m.):

Shawn, I understand what your saying and would have loved to see more Open players, but my only question is this, by doing so wouldn't it be unfair to turn away the 10 ams or juniors that showed up earlier to register than the 10 pros?

In my eyes, its a tricky thing. More open players would have been nice, but is it worth it at the cost of turning away dedictaed am?

I've rarely seen reserved spots for tourneys anyhow, esp. a C-tier, at least advertised that way. Even Rumbletown, an A-tier, is only reserving spots until August 14th.

The IO had been advertised for months, so really if you didn't pre-register there's no cause for complaint IMO.

yes, but the drooling is not unusual...

Btw, watch out Damon I'm gunning for you. With Steve C in upper now, I'm only 6 points behind you for first :-)

Wow, as flattering (and ridiculous) as that is, I know in my heart that Jay meant "with SEAN C. in upper..."

Steve C (that's me) can't even see the upper tier from where he is.  :)  Or is that "where I am"?  When Steve refers to himelf in the third person it always screws me up.  I/me/we never know what verb tense to use.   *sigh*

*had to fix my spelling for Sean's name*

I suddenly wanna play rec.  :D

-12 is a pretty big score for Am's.  I hope it'll be more realistic at like -5 to -8.  I can at least try to keep up then.  -12 is way out of my league.

-12 would be a good score for two rounds total correct?

-6 for one round of 18, -6 for another?

D

Well, it's 2:40 and I left early to give a friend a ride home and relax a bit.

I shot well but didn't get any breaks when I needed them. It was great to see some of the best disc golfers in the state. I just want to congratulate everyone who helped run this tournament, I think it was a huge success! It's a shame I didn't shoot better.

I don't know who handles this, but if there are any neon green Z-Wildcats 170-175 left from the tournament. I would love to purchase one (didn't get a chance to buy one)

Again, great job everyone who helped. It ran very smoothly and the volunteers showed alot of dedication to the game!

Thanks again:

I just wanted to thank again all the players and spectators who spent cash for discs at this event.  Some of you know, some of you don't, that all "my merch" belongs to the Waterford Junior Girls' Club.  Everything I sell I account for and they get the profit from the sale.  I get the return of my wholesale purchase price, with which I buy more stuff!  Your purchases at the Illinois Open helped make it possible for Diana and I to take six girls to the USWDGC in Peoria where they all competed in the Junior Girls Division.  IO cash sales accounted for about 1/8th of our USWDGC travel budget, so it was pretty significant in helping the club send everyone who wanted to go.

As to next year, it might have to remain a C-tier due to restructuring of tier requirements.  I can't say too much about this yet because the PDGA has not published next year's tier format, but as a State Coordinator I get inside information.  I'm pretty sure it will be a split day C-tier.

[I'll say this:  With what they are currently talking about, this year's Illinois State Championships would not qualify as a B-tier nor would the UWParkside Prairie Open, in spite of their $2400+ pro payouts.]

Regardless, we'll have A-tier am payouts and a Major [think: USDGC] change in the way the course plays on Sunday!

I think the PDGA will be pissing off a lot of people if they have to change a B-Tier to an A-Tier after running it as a B-Tier for so many years.
