Website is wrong-o. I will fix-o.

The prices below are correct-o.

Pro-$35

Adv-$30

Am-$25

Rec & Junior-$15

Shawn will be co-TD and we still haven't spoken in depth about all this yet.  We're thinking that the players' package will be some glow stix and perhaps a glow mini. even though it won't be a real glow event (more like twilight for the 2nd round), glow stuff is cool to get.

By increasing the entry fees by $5 (Rec/Junior stay same), we can increase payouts slightly and take in a little more $ for the club.

Also, I'm seriously thinking about not using the big scoreboard. Standing Rocks just had a laptop and printer. they printed out standings quickly (Excel can sort and rank faster than me) after each round. That would make grouping for the second round and final four much easier. They posted copies of the standings on the walls on the HQ building (so that all players could see results fast.

Also (and like I said, Shawn and I need to hash all this out), the raffle might be trimmed down a bit (we gave out WAY too much stuff at the Memorial), and all sponsor-donated plastic can be used for CTPs.

After everything was paid for, the club only garnered about 6% profit at the HPC Memorial. We need to boost that without robbing the players. Hopefully these 2 things (entry fees and raffle) will help.

jim

Both these things would make my wife VERY happy!  We could use them for all tourneys. THANKS!  Yes, yes!  You may even be able to claim those items on your taxes next year!

jim

Woo-hoo!  2 weeks until the Widdershins!

Now that Holes A & C are installed and Hole B will wait until July unfortunately, we have to change the temp course layout for the event.

Attached is a Word document (3-pages) with all the lastest info. This will be reflected on the website by tomorrow.

Jay is also adding a pre-registration form with credit card and Paypal payment options. Of course, you can write a check as well (to "Discontinuum").

There will not be a raffle and limited refreshments will be sold at the tourney.

If the Ace Pool is not hit, there will be a jumbo toss CTP to split the cash (50/30/20).

Glowsticks and glow minis will be the players' package and the baskets will be illuminated the second round by glowing rings in the baskets.

Payouts: Pro - cash / Advanced - cash & prizes / Amateur - cash & prizes / Recs & Junior - prizes.

The temp holes will be tough and we'll only be playing a few cement tees. This should really be a fun one, even without all the extra frills we usually throw in. This way payouts will remain high and the club's expenses will be fewer.

So sign up TODAY!!!

jim

Bad news about Widdershins. There are several baseball games scheduled for next Saturday from 3pm until 8pm. Also, there are 2 soccer games scheduled for earlier in the day. Looks like we won't be able to do many - if any - temporary holes. Also, the bridges are not usable over the creek, so Hole C shouldn't be used.

So, I propose we use all concrete and alternates and Hole A, making for 2 rounds of 19 holes.

I'll talk to Trigg Monday and get more specific info.

jim

9 Holes + Hole A (long tee)

9 Holes + Hole A (short tee) =  20 holes per round.

OR

We can play old Blast Hole A, then play Hole C, but the rough back there is monstrous. We got so many complaints about it over the past 2 years that I prefer not doing that one.  However, our choices are quite limited.

Before we consider more suggestions, I really want to talk to Trigg and Shawn (he is co-TD after all).

I am also open to putting a few temporaries across the street (to the west).

But lets not lose hope. Lets take all that positive Prairie Open energy and rock the Widdershins; after all, Widdershins is all about reversing bad energy and transforming the negative into positive.

I will post as soon as I hear from Trigg.

Shawn, will you be home tonight or will you still be sleeping???  How late can I call you?

jim

Point well made.  But I do not think we'll get more than 50 people on Saturday.  I'm waiting for Trigg to call back about use of the field across the street. These may not be ideal holes if we do use the space, but at least we'll have another option.

Another option is shotgun start....

jim

Yes, I meant staggered start.

That's OK about the basket - glad you were able to unload it!

I dunno about this whole thing.

If Trigg doesn't call me back by morning, Shawn and I will just make decisions and pay the consequences later.

Jojo: Hole Sponsorship would be great!  I'll email you specifics.

Josh, would you consider a Hole Sponsorship again?

Chain Reaction will NOT be there (they'll be on vacation at sandy pt)  Tourist will prob not be there, just I'm checking.

jim

OK, did not hear from Mike Trigg at the WPD yet.  Time is running short, so I made some decisions:

-we will use holes A, B and C

-we will make 2 bridges over the creek, maybe getting some big help from..... Adrian!  :-)

-we will not be using temporary baskets near the baseball diamond or soccer fields

-we will have different colored CTP flags for different divisions

***IF ANYONE CAN HELP ON THURSDAY NIGHT, PLEASE BE AT BEVIER AROUND 5pm***

***IF ANYONE CAN HELP ON FRIDAY NIGHT, PLEASE BE AT BEVIER AROUND 5pm***

I'll be there both nights (goddess willing) and will get to Bevier around 12noon on Saturday.

jim

Yes, big daddy.  Temporary Hole B is old temporary A.

I'll bring my drill, nuts and bolts, hammer and nails, some wood, my hatchet and clippers, my rake, and a couple of buckets to haul woodchips around.

My wheelbarrow is history - finally rusted through!  so if anyone can bring a wheelbarrow and do chips on Hole C's fairway, that would be super.

jim

I am not off on Friday but will be at Bevier after 5pm. Mirth, please bring whacker, shovel, and rake.

Main concerns before Widdershins:

-Will Lance marry Jessie?

-Will Ridge find his way out of the Cave of Doom?

-Will Abe Vigoda ever die?

OK, seriously:

-dangerous stumps must be gone

-bridges must be built and safe

-all must look pretty

-Holes A,B,C must be measured (and marked and flagged)

ALSO......

-Shawn gets limited food and drink

-Mirth, BC bring computer and printer???

(if not, that's OK, just lemme know please)

-Jim gets different colored flags & glow minis

-Jim prints out schedule/handouts/maps

-Shawn gets glow rings

-Everyone has a good time and plays awesome!

jim

THANKS guys!  What brands are they (so we can determine compatibility before I pull a "duh" at the tourney).

Mirth, please also say what brand/size/model of ink cartridge.

jim

Things are coming along just fine.

We'll be having a few CTPs thanks to Josh and Jojo and SunKing!

The new Holes A & C are looking and playing GREAT!!!  Thanks to all those who have been working on them.  If anyone can help Brett and Mirth on Friday, please do.  I'll be out there for a while Friday evening too.

*****

On Saturday, Adrian will be de-stumping the new holes in the morning. If you help at either time, please DO NOT TAKE DOWN ANY MORE LIVING TREES. I got my butt chewed today by the WPD for being a little too liberal in our clearing efforts.

I will not be there until about 12 noon on Satuday and we do not get the building until after 1pm because the Fishing Derby folks are using it.

PLEASE call me at work on Friday (847) 535-0795 or home early Saturday (847) 244-6729 if you have any questions or problems.

The club does have a park permit (I have  copy) in case Johnny Law gives anyone a hassle.

jim

Someone not from our club has taken down a few small but healthy trees and did a real hack job.  I just wanted to let everyone know in case someone gets ambitious.

jim

Yeah, mainly on Hole A, but some stuff was done on Hole B basket area. More than what Paul, Chud and myself did. I must have left my hatchet and that's what they used, 'cuz I cannot find the hatchet now. I explained this to Trigg and he seemed to understand that we aren't just chopping indescriminately.

jim

The course looks fabulous!  Thanks to Mirth, Brett, Adrian, Rene, and Chud for all the hard work!

We spread a lot of chips and refined the tees on Hole C, and did measuring and more clipping on A, B, and C. And thanks to Adrian, many many stumps are gone.

All is ready for a fine event tomorrow!

jim

Its 10:30 and I'm leaving for the course.

If anything is needed or if a crisis happens (gee, that never happens), call Brett or Mirth on their cells.

Good luck everyone!

jim

BIG THANKS to all those who helped out and please forgive or remind me if I've forgotten something (that NEVER happens).

26 players total: 3 Pros, 6 Advanced, 16 Ams, and 1 Rec.  Two very long rounds (1st round my fault, sorry) and 2nd round was over 3.5 hours with 3 holes or more in complete blackness. I never thought it would go that late. But there was plenty of great playing, with 2 Wisconsin boys driving quite a way for the tourney (thanks, P-Sat and John Van D) and doing well, and Mike Walsh coming up from the south side of Chi-town to win Ams.

Congrats to all who won! I hope people liked the payouts (I think everyone was happy) and that everyone had a good time.

jim

Looks beautiful - THANKS Jay!

New Widdershins photos are on the website. More to come later.......
