I posted the following on the Evanston Bike Club website.  This ride is good for beginners and is always well attended.
-------------------------------------
Date/Time  Miles/Pace  Destination~Leader
08/26/06 9:30AM    35 M  Hot Dog Tour~ Dave Barish
This ride will leave Chandler at 9:30 am.  We will go to Hot Dougs in Roscoe Village; Superdawg on Milwaukee Ave.; and Poochies in Skokie.  Any other stops are up to the group.  In the past we have gone for ice cream and bubble tea after getting our fill of hot dogs.  The buddy system works best for this ride.  Share a dog at each stop so you can get a taste without getting sick. You can sleep in as the ride does not start until 930 am,or ride with the 7 am group to work up an appetite.

This is listed as a moderate ride.  However, we will leave nobody behind.  Don''t miss the excitement.  Remember, if you are not on the ride, we are likely talking about you.

I got my new trike today.  Man this is a fun ride.  I had to pump up the tires and tighten the handle bars and then I was good to go.  Two hours later I was thinking, wow the sun is going down, I've got to head for home.  This is a recumbent inverted trike so its as comfortable as a folding camp chair.  It is very easy on the back, butt, neck, hands and wrists.  Its all the fun of riding a bike with none of the unnecessary pain.

We used to ride a lot when the girls were small.  We had a two girl pedal trailer and we went everywhere that way.  When I hurt my back I couldn't ride a bike anymore.  I just cannot sit that way for more than 15 minutes.

I think this will be really good for the weight loss program.  I hate exercise.  This is fun!

I need to try one of those things.  I used to ride my bike all the time, and now I no longer can because of the seat.  I'm sure that my back would run into similar problems!

Where's a good place to pick one of those things up, Bruce?  Is there a way to hook up a small child trailer to the back of them?

These aren't cheap.  They are outrageously expensive.  Diana paid for it because to her health is more important than money.  We bought mine at the place where they are assembled in Grand Rapids.  The frames are custom made in Japan and most of the rest of the parts are stock bicycle parts.

Scott, a good place to look at a wide variety of models and styles is The Bike Rack in St. Charles.  It's on Campton Hills Road just off Rt. 64 about a mile west of Randall. http://thebikerack.com/index.cfm

Amlings Cycle in Niles, www.amlingscycle.com  specializes in recumbant bikes. They also sell trikes like Bruce just got.  Joe, Reichart, the owner is a good guy who quit his corporate job to open a bike shop. By the way, the hot dog ride is 8-25 this year and the disc golf ride is 8-4 for this year. Check out the Evanston Bike Club website for details, www.evanstonbikeclub.org
