The limestone tee pads are finally gone! The park district replaced all of them with concrete last Friday. The pads are all 4x12 with a broom finish. Knoch Knolls is a nice little nine holer. There are only two holes where you can really air it out, but the rest are all in and out of the trees with some elevation change; and if you resist the urge to throw tomahawks on those holes, they present a good challenge for accuracy with some punishing results for error.

Have you heard anything about additional holes at Knoch?  There was a rumor going around at the Lumber Cup about a possible back 9.

If they put in 9 more it will be over the river, proabably a mix of forest and open holes. This was based on a conversation last year with one of the parks guys. If I get off my duff, I might call the Parks South Foreman to thank him for the pads and get info on future plans.

I just got off the phone with the guy from the Parks dept. The following is being done on the course at Knoch Knolls:

  • Concrete pads. DONE
  • new garbage cans (hey Lombard Park District, follow this lead!). DONE
  • new sidewalks by the Restroom building. DONE
  • Tee Signs will be embedded in the tee pads.
  • Repair to course from machinary.
  • Front half of parking lot will be paved.
  • The missing practice basket will be replaced.

I also asked about additional holes. They had talked about possibly expanding Knoch Knolls and adding a course at Seager (on Plank Road), but they wanted to focus on Knoch Knolls first. So no new courses at this time.  :( Yes, they know the course is quite busy.

glad to hear about the work... this course needs some lovin'

bet you could make a pretty wicked back nine across (SE?) of the creek/river

hopefully the new tee signs actually have info (like hole # for starters)

Now that the course isn't quite so crowded, I mapped out a safari route using all the existing tees and baskets. A couple of the holes just become brutally long, but others require a very accurate tee shot to set up an approach to do well. My par values are based on gut feeling. Try it out sometime (when the course is fairly empty) and let me know what you think.
Tee 1 -> Hole 2 Par 4
Tee 3 -> Hole 4 Par 5
Tee 5 -> Hole 7 Par 4
Tee 8 -> Hole 9 Par 4
Tee 2 -> Hole 3 Par 5
Tee 4 -> Hole 6 Par 4
Tee 7 -> Hole 5 Par 3
Tee 6 -> Hole 8 Par 4
Tee 9 -> Hole 1 Par 3

Of course the day I went out and tried this it was windy and I did terrible (except for a deuce on the 9->1 combo).

I drove by Knoch Knolls today. All but four of the baskets are under water.

  FYI, I met with the director of the Naperville Parks dept several weeks ago and there will not be any added holes.  Seems they think all that open area is used by others, but I have never seen anyone but a dog walker using that open area and told him that.  He then said they don't have the parking to accomodate more players.   Seems they do not give a damn about disc golf, as I told him Nike park would be a perfect venue or an 18 holer and just no interest on their end.   THe course is so crwded ater work it's not even worth going out there, and I now go to Woodrige to practice, but that course is getting crowded now too. We need an 18 holer to relieve the congestion.

Dang vandals are getting really annoying. I was out there Friday and found the practice basket down by hole 1. Went out there Saturday morning to roll the 150+ pound basket and core back up the hill and reinstalled it. What is it with people? btw Hole 7 has been been missing for about a month or so. The park district knows about it, but I'm not sure if they've ordered a new basket yet. Be on the lookout for a Mach II target somewhere where it shouldn't be.

    Thanks for taking care of the practice basket; I was there a couple days ago and noticed 7 still gone too;  earlier this year it was hole 5 they ripped out, and it took several weeks after I called the PD to get it reinstalled.   Probably the same punks that have broken over so many of the small trees in the wooded holes too.
