I'm sorry, but what is the difference between advanced, masters, and grandmasters?

I believe that anyone can play advanced. No age restrictions.  Masters are those born no later than December 31, 1967.  And grandmasters are those born no later than December 31, 1957.

I think that they're a few guys in their 50s playing masters and some guys in their forties are playing advanced.

It provides an opportunity for more people to come to events and be competitive within their groups.

I put up pictures from today at Dretzka New in the Gallery. Goto 2007 Events and then into the Worlds folder. If you want to watch the whole thing, I recommend watching it as a slide show (options in the upper left) and change the display time to 1 or 2 seconds. You'll get the best effect of the 5 FPS shots. http://discontinuum.org/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=45

This was Pool E, Men's Advanced Masters. Most of them are of Bruce and his group but I also have a few pictures of some other groups. I mostly went up there to walk with Bruce for a round. I was not on assignment.  ;)

What is the cut for the semis?  How many make it from each division?  Is it a percentage or a flat number?  Anyone know?

I think I have that info at home. I can post it tonight. I think it is 30 for the semi finals for Adv Master. Finals I think is the top 4 for each division.

My friend Greg Schwartz from the Frolfing Illini is shooting out of his mind!!!!  1051 (unofficially) rated 2nd round, sitting at 4th overall after 4 rounds.  WOW.

He's shooting great! Just wanted to point out though that after the "Great Shuffle" individual round ratings don't mean anything until the PDGA fixes them before the next ratings update.

For the ratings update will they pool all of the ratings from each course together even though they were shot at different times and potentially under different conditions?  In other words, does a player from Pool C who played Brown Deer on Tuesday get ratings calculated together with a player from Pool A who played Brown Deer on Wed?

No, the ratings will only be calculated for people that played the course at the same time.

I guess the "1051" round was a -13 at new Dretzka.

Yes they will as long as the conditions were nearly the same. That is what Chuck said on the PDGA message board.

Is that -13 to the posted, tournament par, or -13 to all par 3??  Big difference, still a tremendous score either way.  I'd have to shoot the round of my life to even shoot par there.

All par 3.  It was a 41.

Semi Final - FW1 Top 12*, MG1 Top 20*, MJ1 Top 8*, MJ2 Top 8*
Semi Final - MA1 Top 68*
Semi Final - MM1 Top 32*, MS1 Top 8*

Finals** - Top 4 players for divisions with 6 or more, 2 otherwise

Divisions not listed in the above Semi Finals do not have Semi Finals. I think all divisions will have Finals.

Kelsey and Marie are tied for 2nd in Adv Women going into the last regular round! I wish them both great rounds...maybe there's still time to catch Katie Stauss!

After the last round in regulation Kelsey is in 2nd place in Adv Women and has a one throw lead over Marie and someone else who are tied for 3rd. She's like 13 throws out of 1st so unless there's a Gillooly moment I don't think Kelsey will be able to catch her.
