I plan on being there this Sunday.  I should have a friend coming out with me, and he is interested in joining DISContinuum.

Excellent. Everyone is welcome to come play.

Hello all,

I will be visiting the Chicago area from March 12-18th.  My friend Sarah and I would like to play a round of golf.  I've been playing competitively for awhile while Sarah plays mroe for fun.  Can someone provide us some info. about your area courses.  Which one to visit, day, time, etc.

Thanks!!

I say it's all about the weather conditions this time of year.  Normally I'd recommend playing Lombard's Madison Meadows course, but with the recent weather conditions that place is probably quite flooded in many areas.  What area will you be at?  Mokena has a great course to try out, that's a little south.  Round Lake (northern suburb) has a good 18-hole course... not sure how that course holds up with given weather.

What type of courses are you used to playing?  Don't want to make the Illinois experience a downer ;)

I'm used to playing pretty wooded area courses.  Tyler State Park is near me and there is a mixture of wooded and open holes ranging from 200-800 feet.  My home course is Sedgley Woods, the second oldest course in the country.  This course is much shorter, but challenging.  We are staying by Midway Airport.  We'll have a car so we don't mind driving.  Any suggestions?  I was looking at Madison Meadows, it looks good, but again the weather is definately a factor for you guys. Thanks for all the help.

If you are at Midway i'd stay south. Mokena is a decent course with 2 sets of pads. Not sure if there is a map on the web but it would be helpful. West Park and Channahon are possiblities too. If you don't mind a little drive i'd play Cedar Lake, IN.

Lemon Lake looks good.  It looks like about a 35 mile drive for us.  Is there a league day there?  Doubles...tags?

Chainmeister

Philly girl.  I've played Sedgley as my in laws are there.  If  you like that kind of wooded course Mokena, Lemon Lake and Channahon will look good.  If you are up for a long drive, go do Rockford where the new course is tight and wooded much like Sedgley and the old course is a mixture and a very good, fun challenging course.

There  are leagues in the Joliet area.  I checked www.jolietdiscgolf.com and the site is down.  Any of you guys down there know when leagues are?

I hope to play Sedgley when I am in town Mother's Day weekend.

frolfgrl

I appreciate all of your input guys!!!  I look forward to playing your area courses.  Please keep me informed of any league/doubles play.  Chainmeister lemme know when u will be in town I can meet you at Sedgley for a round.  Our tag/doubles days are Thursdays and Saturdays.  If anyone wants to meet up with Sarah and I for a round of golf we are down.  Cedar Lake and Lemon Lake look the best.  I guess it all depends on weather.

Peace,

Becky

I believe that the Joliet leagues are Saturdays at noon for dubs. Not 100% sure though.

If you are looking for a quick round one day while you are here, Summit Park is close to Midway and is very tightly wooded, some say too tightly. It can be played in about an hour to an hour and a half though.

Summit is the closest course to Midway; however, there are better courses nearby. Summit is also likely to be flooded. Mokena and Cedar Lake are both good courses, and you can't go wrong with either one.

Joliet winter doubles are on Sunday mornings at 11 AM. On March 18th we'll be at Channahon. Most of us will probably have headaches.

A reminder that DST starts THIS SUNDAY as well. With league in Grayslake that day, the directionally-challenged should keep that in mind (looking in the mirror....  ::))
thanks,

Hey Guys...it's the Philly girl again.  It looks like that Tuesday is going to be the nicest day of the week (partly cloudy and high of 60).  I want to try and schedule a round or two in that day, evening.  Let me know if anyone is interested in playing a daoubles round or casual round.  I've heard some rumors of a night glow league.  I hear Masison Meadows is the best place, but we are willing to drive up to 45 minutes away for good golf.  Hope to see some of you out.  We set our clocks ahead so we'll have more time to play.

See you next week in Chi-town!!

I've been working on the tees at Grayslake since last Wednesday. All but #6 are clear of snow & ice. I couldn't locate the tee to #6 under a foot of snow and another inch of ice. Today Tim S. found it for me. After tomorrow that problem will be taken care of and the course will be ready to go for Sunday. Don't forget about the time change.
