I was going to vote but didn't see a place where I could vote for Atari.  Hey, Pong anyone?

I bought my 360 yesterday and Ps3's were available everywhere (according to the guy at EB games, PS3 sales are sluggish at best while 360 sales have picked up since the PS3 lauch).  BTW the xbox live is free for basic services (I was playing NFS Carbon with someone in Japan last night).  It is awesome and I got the premium system, xtra controller, and 3 games for what I would have paid for the PS3 system alone.  Again, both systems are very cool, but I definitely dig the 360 more.  Gears of War looks spectacular and is really fun.  Tiger 07 is what you'd expect from Tiger 07 (but possibly has the worst sound effect for hitting the ball ever).  Carbon turns out to be the best of the 3 games I got and I played that for about 7 hours last night.  Now I won't mind so much anymore when it is too sh*tty outside to go throw discs.   ;D

Yea, I wound up going with the 360, and so far, I'm happy with my decision. No buyers remorse. (yet?).  I'm digging TW 07, but I'm sick of all the training. Call of Duty II is also a pretty sweet game. Microsoft needs to hurry up now and release Guitar Hero II.

Oh, and I believe it was on TV that I heard the 360 outsold all the other systems combined this Christmas???

Last I heard about that report was that the numbers were not confirmed.  Here's a link to the article that I'm talking about.  I don't know how soon the "official" numbers will come out (or if the numbers that are out are accurate... 2million Xbox 360, 1.8 million Wii, 750,000 PS3)  It helped Xbox 360 a LOT this year at being available for purchase when the other 2 were not.  Lots of parents probably saying "forget this, xbox 360 that is sitting right here.  i'll just buy this instead of waiting in line all day long and not get anything".

I was playing Combat a couple days before Christmas. Gotta love those secret teleportation spots in the corners.  :)
I'm happy having received a PS2 for Christmas from my in-laws. We love Katamari is great, but it will still be fun to pull out Circus Atari from time to time.

Just for the Record:

I have been a Die Hard Playstation fan and just made the switch to XBOX.

Traded in the PS2 all the games, 2 controllers, 3 memory cards got $175 and applied that to a Premium XBOX 360 and bought Tiger 06 & Madden 07.

I am glad I did - I played PS3 at Gamestop where I bought the XBOX and have to say the grafix were cool but didnt make me sport wood to spend $600.

My brother & I went in on a Nintendo Wii yesterday.

Completely different game machine than the PS3 or Xbox360, but a TON of fun. We must've played the boxing game for about 3 hours yesterday, and my arms feel it. The Wii controller is VERY sensitive to movement, for instance, on the tennis game is makes you switch stance depending on forehand or backhand and you can lob, line drive, etc. Hitting a golf ball also makes you pratice swing before you actually hit the ball to get the feel of how hard to hit. Good stuff. I haven't played Red Steel long enough to give a review, but it was weird using the Wiimote to look around. Could get motion sickness while watching someone else play.

All in all I'd give this a thumbs up. The inventiveness of the control system sets it, not completely above, but definetly apart from the other 2 systems.

If you're going for just regular gaming, then the Xbox seems to be best.
If you want to surf the web & view HD movies in addition to gaming, the PS3 seems to be system for you.
I'm just going by features, not price.
If you take price into consideration, the Wii is the best gaming for your hard earned $; and this is coming from a die hard Playstation (1&2) owner.

I think for price consideration I'm going to stick with my PS2 and GameCube and not move up in systems until there are games that I want on the new systems. Killer graphics or cool new controllers mean nothing to me if they don't have the games that I want to play...or the games are still good enough on the existing game systems.

I hear ya Jon. This was more my brother's purchase, since he still lives at home and paid for the majority of it. He also bought Zelda, Rayman, Red Steel, and the Super Nintendo-looking controller before he even got the system.

I'm still waiting out the summer console wars and see what games are out by next Christmas. No need for stay-inside activities once the weather breaks!

Interesteing tidbit from Wikipedia:

"Game designers have communicated with the PDGA about two types of disc golf video games for the Nintendo Wii system. The game(s) are currently in early development and are expected to be released in mid-to-late 2008. It is likely that the games will be downloadable from the new Wii Ware service and will cost around $10 or $15. "

It's gotta be better than the PC game, right?

stpitner

well yeah, anything is better than those PC games.  I never played the one that Innova used to distribute to compare on that one though.

The interesting thing is the Wii-mote usage for the game.  With the motion sensors, you'd be able to simulate actually throwing the disc (presumably).  BUT, even with the strings to hold the controller around your wrist, I'd like to see you get some snap on that controller, have it *recognize* the snap, and on top of that not break off your wrist and go break something important in your house!

Sounds intriguing though!

Good job Mukey both games are fun to play and I have PS3, WII  and XBOX with Halo 3

I have had an Xbox 360 for about three years now.  In that time, I've had to send it in for repair twice.  Once because the 360 was having a problem reading discs, and the second due to a flashing circle around the power button.  Both times took about 4 weeks to repair the situation.  The first repair was actually a replacement.  It just took them 4 weeks to ship it.  The 2nd they seemed to refurb the unit.  It's working so far, but if I had to opportunity to go back in time and tell myself not to buy a 360, I would.  Keep in mind that I have a friend who's had his for exactly the same amount of time as I've had mine (we went to the store on the same day to pick them up), he's never had a problem. ???

that's the beauty of technology.... you can have two identical units roll off the same line one after the other. One will work flawlessly for years, the other will repeatedly break.
