Kirk Romandie hit the ace.  Last shot of the morning round.  I was in his group.  He had a couple of bad holes but was in a GREAT frame of mind when the round ended.  He was in disbelief when we told him it was going to be about a $700 payday.

Bruce Brakel

I think the disbelief continued right up until Jon and I finished counting out a stack of 36 $20 bills!   ;D

lol he still looked in shock and disbelief even after picking up the money.  That should be enough to pay for gas on the trip home ;)

I'll be working on getting the unofficial results up tonight. We were hoping that the $5 discount for pre-reg would get more people to pre-reg but so far it is not working. How about if I beg? Please do a TD a favor and pre-register for Crystal Lake!  ;D

My pre-reg was in Brett's hand Sunday morning.  :)

Becky has her hand's full at day-of registration, so I don't think this should fall on her, but if there was someone "officially" taking pre-registrations for a tournament at the previous tournament it might help. I'm not sure how this would look. Maybe someone sitting the next table down from Becky and she could send them over, or a sign at the merch table that pre-registrations would be accepted.

usually seeing any discontinuum officer is enough, or anyone who is often in contact with us. I know Mike Clark will take preregs...

Becky will take pre-reg for any of our tournaments pretty much any other time during the day other than registration. Starting with Crystal Lake I will keep a pre-reg folder with me at the leader board. Anyone that wants to register for Rockford during registration at Crystal Lake should see me at the leader board. I'll try to make a sign for that also.

You save $5 if you pre-register. You're charged $3 to register online. So, you're actually only saving $2 by pre-registering (if  you do so online).

If I pay the day of the event, do I pay the advertised price on the flyer or do I pay the advertised price + $5? For example, the flyer says advanced is $40. If I pay earlier, online, I pay $38. If I pay the day of the event is it $45? Or $40 because I didn't get the discount?

Maybe the day of needs to be $10, especially if they're being discounted $5 right away.

Lunch hour might be a good time.  It might be a good idea to make an announcement at Crystal to prereg for Rockford and that once the morning chaos is over that Becky or whoever will be available to take your preregistration.

I usually eat lunch at the park and would be willing to help with this on Sunday.

It's $5 off the flyer price so Advanced would be $35, $15 for Trophy only.

The problem is that there are many that may not be enough in the know to be able to identify a Discontinuum officer. A sign at the merch table will probably help big time to publicize pre-registration.

You always save $5 when you pre-register. The online fee to pay for the tournament is completely optional. We have an address listed at brasscash.com that you can send a check to, you can pay a leagues in person, you can pay at the event prior or you can pay any officer of Discontinuum anywhere you see them. Online payment is a convenience. Save the convenience fee and send in a check or hand one of us some cash!

its not so much a convenience fee as it is covering PayPal's fees so the club doesn't end up upside down on prereg.

^ what jon said.

It is a convenience fee from the perspective of the payee. They are paying paypal for the convenience of paying online.

OK, I've entered in all the data from the non-pre-reg people. Still have to enter in scores for the rest. Will have to wait until another day. Tomorrow is honors night, I think, so I may not be able to do it until Thursday.

Something else that helps get scores up on the day of a tournament is non-playing volunteers. Now that Maddisen has taken an interest in caddy/scorekeeping AND playing, we're down a volunteer both days

The two trophies outstanding from Lombard are under way.  I'm starting the Crystal Lake trophies too.

Markie Esquivel took 1st place again. Does he automatically get bumped up to advanced for Crystal Lake or Rockford? When we were playing tonight he was developing a good forehand, to go with the rest of his game...which is really solid.

And what about Ray or Roger? Do they have to play advanced, at any point?

We look at ratings for non-members when the PDGA updates members.

and until then, the IOS should institute about 50 new divisions so we all have a chance at 'winning'...  :P
