I've been thinking about what to do with this brand new, full weight, fully galvanized Mach III basket on a temporary stand with a wheel.  This is the game I am thinking of:

Round 1:  Price $5.  The top 10% of the players in every division qualify for Round 2 based on their tournament score at IOS #1.  If 80 players get in at IOS #1,  Round 2 happens that day.  Otherwise Round 2 happens at IOS #2.

Round 1, Second Chance:  Price $5.  The top 10% of the players in every division qualify for Round 2 based on their tournament score at IOS #2.

Round 2:  A sudden death putting contest commencing immediately after the awards ceremony.  We'll start with a 20 footer and work our way back.  Make your putt or lose.

So, tell me what you think.  And would the Int/Rec players or the Pro/Adv players want to play this first?  I only have one basket, but if the game is a success, we could do it again with the proceeds from the first time.

i like the idea of the putting comp., but I think you will greatly limit how many entrants you will get by making it so only the top 10% in the tourney get to participate in the putting comp.  i would probably get in just a straight sudden death putting competition, but i probably won't be in the top 10% of advanced so why would i pay 5 bucks when i won't get to play?

maybe u could have like a quick putting game where you get 2 putts from 3 different spots, 25 feet, 35 feet, 45 feet.  each worth 1,2,3 pts, respectively.  you can do it once per IOS event for the first 5 events.  5 bucks each time u do it.  only your best score counts.  at IOS 6 there will be a sudden death putting competition for the top 5 scores of the year to determine the winner of the basket.

Well, we made the qualifying number per division equal to 25% of the number of players in your division, so if there were 40 players in your division, ten would qualify.  There was very little interest.  The putting contest at Lombard will have a cash payout.  All nine players who got in qualified, even the grandmaster who finished deep in his field.

Given the lack of Saturday interest, the basket game volunteers got discouraged and did not volunteer to attempt to run it on Sunday.  At Lombard we'll take more sign-ups, but I'm not going to push this game.  85% of you were definately not interested.

I guess the good news is, anyone who saves up 400 brass can get themselves a nice basket.  If the club wants another basket, Mirth and Brett, it sure beats paying cash to DGA!   ;D

i thought the way the putting comp at the discontinuum invite tourn last year was a good way to do it. just with the division split and make a limit to the number of misses and not make it so you have to use two putters for those people who use 1 and only 1.

Cash payout is way better.
