I have a question about scoring, do you count metal if it skips into the pole or basket or does it have to be on a fly?  Just curious.

I'd agree with Mirth, with one stipulation. I'd think that it would have to be basket or higher, but maybe not.

if it hits any part of the basket at any point in time, whether it is off a skip, on the fly, a roll or anything, it counts as metal.

and obviously if it skips into the basket, then it's a skip ace and counts as an Ace, but I doubt that the ground will have dried out enough to really get some nice skips that will assist in nailing that ace.

On the scorecard, scoring will just have "A" for an ace, "M" for metal, and a line through it if nothing is hit.

The one that I played in, the pole counted. Is that not the case here?

Pole counts.  Any piece of metal on the basket counts as metal.  If it's at rest in the chains or in the basket (standard holing out rules), it's an ace.

I'm closing pre-registration at 5pm tonight (central time of course).  Any registrations that come in after that I might not receive in time to process.

Right now it looks like from actual registration + people that have communicated to me that they will be there we are going to have at least 25 participants.  More people might have told Eric that they are coming and word was not passed on to me.  It should be a fun morning!

I sent you my payment yesterday, and I think my buddy Kyle is going to send you one right now as well.

stpitner

I received yours yesterday Roman, and you're right, I just received Kyle's.  The payment won't clear for a couple of days (it was a paypal echeck), but since it sounds like you would be willing to vouch for him, he will be just fine for getting in.

See you guys out there tomorrow!

Thanks everyone for coming out!  We had a turnout of 34 players.  The tee off was at 9:30, and we were done by noon!  It was a lot of fun, and it didn't cost you your entire day either.

There were 2 aces hit, one by Tom Schodtler and one by Kyle Young.  Both also hit metal once and there was a CTP throwoff for the victory between the two of them at the end.  Kyle wound up closer winning the $300 winnings - a bag, 14 discs (Z, ESP, and FLX), an "Ace Race Winner" super color mini, and Discraft Towel.  There were numerous other players that hit metal.  I know one person hit metal 3 times and a couple others twice.

Overall a very fun day!  We definitely want to run another ace race next year, and if enough strings can be pulled to work it out, we may run another one this year!

PLAYERS PACKS ARE STILL AVAILABLE:
Please email me at scott at paperorplasticsports dot com and contact me if you would like to purchase a players pack.  For the same $20 you get 2 discs, your choice of hat (black, khaki, or burnt orange), Discraft sticker, supercolor mini, and Discraft pencil.  We have white, yellow, and red discs ranging in weights from about 165g - 176g with various hot stamps colors.  We have a BUNCH of 173's, so if you have no weight preference, that's the weight you will receive first.  We can try to accomodate you as much as possible.

Thanks!

Eric and I didn't have time to go out and measure them as we set them up (besides the fact that the mosquitoes were REALLY bad in the morning), but they were estimated at all being between 150 and 200 feet.

We had to exclude hole 5 because it was completely surrounded by water.  Instead we added a hole to the right of hole 1 (tee was about 100 feet from where the IOS merch tent was set up), and played in between 18 and 1.  It went for about 150 feet out towards the soccer field area.  It gave everyone an open field shot to just go for it instead of having to worry about trees or anything that might have been in the way.
