I was playing at Jericho last Tuesday after work, when I went to tee off on 6 saw two guys in the water, and one by the edge of the fairway that I hadn't noticed ahead of me. I asked if they were still playing the hole, they said no, so I threw. When I got up to the guy on the shore, he had about a half dozen different discs laying there drying out. I asked if I could see if any were mine since I've sacrificed a few in the lake and the creek there, and took a look. None were mine, but they were all marked with either initials or numbers, so maybe they'll get back to their rightful owners.

I know that some of the regulars over there are playing with some of rev. rick's old plastic. In case you're reading here, I filled the vacated space in my bag with better discs and threw some more biz to the market at Jericho and 47 so they'll keep their rack stocked. You might not understand karma, but the funny thing about it is that it doesn't care if you understand it or not, it just happens.

Thanks for the vent. It's way too nice outside to mess around here, gotta go throw before it rains again and sogs things up.

My feeling is that if I throw a disc in the water and choose not to go after the disc, it is gone. If someone is enterprising enough to go into the water and pull out a bunch of discs then the discs are theirs to do what they want with them. If I get my disc back that is great, if not I had three choices:

1. Don't throw it in the water.
2. Go get it out of the water.
3. Pull another disc out of my bag.

If I lose a disc in the grass, woods, or brush I am hoping it will be returned.

I agree. If it's not important enough for you to take shoes & socks off & get it, then it's not that important to you.

I agree, but then again you never know how much effort s/he who lost a disc may have put into finding it.

I have spent a bit of time in the pond at Lombard, but never found my disc either time.

The law draws a distinction between lost property and abandoned property, and I think our common morality does too.  Most of what you leave in the pond, you know it is there and you're abandoning it.  Even so, when I go wading for my disc and I find someone else's disc, I'll call them if they put a number on the disc, because I'd like them to call me if I put my number on the disc.  I kind of think anyone who is not putting contact information on their disc doesn't really want it back, and vice versa.

Now that I buy discs at wholesale and get all the discs I need in player packs and as prizes, I rarely put my number or e-mail address on a disc.  Maybe I should on the trophy discs I throw.

lol!

Bruce has probably lost more plastic than I own.....and it hasn't made a dent in his disc collection

Thanks for the input. I've learned a lot from you guys viewing the forums as a guest and passing along your experience is appreciated.

For the record I do agree with most of you, if I give up looking for a disc I don't expect someone else to find it for me. All of mine are marked with my name and email, so if someone found them and gave a damn, they could get in touch. Lately I've been able to keep them where I can find them.

Since I just jinx'd myself, I'll try to play the whole round today with the Driver #2 I got for xmas. It floats!
