Lately i've been reading several forums & other websites that talk about throwing for distance. I think i've come up with a technique that is really  helping me consistenly drive better & for more "D". I started thinking about my baseball team and what drills they use to build up their arms & muscle memory. One of the main drills they do on their off day is long toss. After playing 18 @ Fairfield every day this week, I have spent 20 extra minutes throwing 30 discs from the #1 tee. I try to bomb them!!! The results are coming. Not only have I been able to figure out what my discs are going to do, i've added at least 25 feet by doing this in 1 week.  Today, I actually had one land about 15 feet short of the pin. Now, I can't do that consistently right now but I have made progress.

I'll have to start trying the putter. I have never really tried to throw a putter for distance. You don't want my help on putting. That's another topic starter.

#1 is a good hole to practice on since you can choose any route to get it there.  I park it with a long hyser route, if I try to anhyser it I am not really sure how far it will go.  I have never played with you so I don't know what type of mechanics you use.  If you want to learn "D" it is a whole different game then golf, accuracy is not even a huge factor and that makes Fairfield a great place to practice.

For distance I use a modified flip the bird fan grip, beat up stable disc, grip verrrryy tight, a z-step with a bounce, start my forward motion slow and accelerate more at the point of release(kind of like a pitcher throwing a fastball), throw a slightly higher then normal anhyser at about 10:15 to 10:30 and let it turn over and glide back and don't forget to follow thru.  Depending on the disc you have to adjust the angle of release.  Some disc you have to hyser so they don't turn over so much with your snap.  The best thing to do is bring a box or 2 of disc out with all your drivers and practice, this is the only way to find out what works for your D.  It is also important that there is a wind for distance, with the wind you can have a disc ani over come back and flip again if you have enough snap on your release.  I have had a bunch over 500 in practice a few in leagues that I didn't mean to throw.   I only practice this maybe 2-3 times a year in a large open field since it is so hard to be consistant with accuracy and I feel that it throws my golf game off.

If you want to increase accuracy, practice throwing a putter without a z-step.  Keep your feet planted and follow through on your front foot.  You will be amazed at how far you throw it straight, when you get over 300ft, move on to a Roc and get another 50ft that goes straight.  Practice mentally and pysically and when you play don't think about what to do, just do it.  If you have advise on putting I could use it.....I have been having problems hitting chains lately, too bad we can't hole out by hitting basket.

When I first started playing I saw Barry S. and I asked him about distance and he said to learn how to throw a putter over 300.  I thought there was no way I could do that without a driver, so I never practiced it.  Well, 7 years later I relize how important it is to learn this.

Yeah, any tips on putting would be grealy appreciated.  So far the best advice I've gotten was from Al G. when I first started playing this league.  I got teamed up with him and he carried me pretty well most of the round.  Then he told me to focus on one link of chain in the center chain, close to the rim of the basket.  When I actually do slow down enough to think out the shot, it usually goes in.

throw a putter over 300'? Yes I know its possible, but I have only thrown over 300' feet 3 times before even with a driver! Looks like I need some more practice! (And a clue :-))

Btw. Whats a "z-step"? I have ofcourse heard of the x-step, just wondering if you mistyped or are talking about something else.
