Mukey

I was debating posting this all day, but it kinda made my weekend...

My best friend, my brother, and I are playing a few courses in the Joliet area Saturday. We played West Park and then I suggested we go to Shorewood as I hadn't shot well there last Saturday & wanted some revenge, on the course & my brother.

We come up the drive & I see this short lady throwing from the pavement & think to myself: "That looks like Mom."  I see my Dad throw his tee shot & realize that my parents had come out to disc all on their own! It's just kinda cool to me that they didn't even know about disc golf 3-4 years ago, & now have their own bags and desire to play, even on a day when they had obligations in the early morning & in the evening. As my Dad put it: "We had time enough to squeeze a round or two in."

Plus then Sunday all my Mom wanted to do was play disc golf. Aurora & Oswego, with grilling after.

thats cool.  i wish a few more older folks played so it doens't just look like a game for high school kids.  my folks check out different courses when they go on vacations sometimes.  my grandpa is actually who introduced me to the game.

Also, Mukey, i think i saw ur mom and dad chillin with KVN in the woods after hole 7 at fairfield today.  thats gotta be wierd for you.

I loved getting my family involved.  My dad absolutely loved it even though he wasn't all that great, but it didn't matter since he was able to do stuff with his kids.  Unfortunately he's no longer here to continue playing, but my mom - while having no desire to play - will at least walk the course with us.

Always nice to make it a family thing.

And you're right mukey, that would be very weird to see my mom or dad going out to the course just because they wanted to.

My parents are always asking what it's about, so 2 weeks ago, I took my 59 year old Mom for a round at Crystal Lake.  It was one of the best times I can remember having with my Mother.  She was topping out at 150' by the end of the round and never really knew where the disc was gonna go left to right, but she had a great time.  I don't know that she would go out on a round by herself, but she said she wants to go again.
That kid is back on the escalator!!!

I think sometimes you forget how old some of us are!   ;)

I love it when my daughter asks me if I want to go play a round rather than asking me if she "has to go with" me when I tell her that I'd like to go play disc golf today!

Had to be KVN's parents. My Mom would be down, but my Dad's intoxicant of choice is alcohol.  >:D

can't putt

My Mom has walked St. Charles and Jericho Lake with us.  She's 82.

My sons' dad also plays.  Not too well, really, but he's out there!  ;D
