I'm heading to Kansas City this weekend.  I may be able to get in a round or two.  I know there are supposed to be some killer courses there.

I want to play a great course, BUT I will probably be playing with 1-3 total newbies.  So, obviously I can't tak them to a really hard course.  I also don't want to spend the whole time looking for discs as I imagine they will lack control.  So, disc eater courses are out.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I've heard that Swope park is reasonably open but still long & challenging.  I haven't played the course, but it WAS the site of my first Ultimate tournament in 1990!

Blue Valley is by far the best course down there.  Its unbelievable just to look at.  However, its extremely long and tough and your newbie friends might not enjoy themselves.

Waterworks has unreal elevation change throughout the course.  Its a very tough course also and is alot of fun.  I would suggest hitting that one.

I played Swope in the KC wide open last year, but we played a different layout that was kind of confusing to figure out if you didnt have a map.  There were alot of different tees and pin placements so I'm not sure what you would be looking at if you went there now.  Its a really nice park though.

Cliff Drive is another awesome course.  Its got several wooded holes and several holes where u let it rip in the open.  All these courses were tough in the tourney layouts.  You really can't go wrong no matter which course you hit.  The order in which I listed them here would be the order in which I would rank them personally.

this thread is pretty old but, waterworks is worth the trip by itself, you can see the panorama of kansas city off of the first tee and although its reativily difficult its really fun and you should lose any discs
