We have just put new pin postions in at Lincoln Park in Springfield. I hate to sound like a homer, but the only course in Illinois that is better is McNaughton. There is much more risk/reward, and deuces really have to be earned. If anyone plays the new layout, please post a review on it here or sdgc.jconserv.net. Thanks!

There are currently no tee signs (will be soon) but if you let our club know, I or someone would gladly show you around.
I need to be consistent....

Thats 105 courses in ILLINOIS. Play anywhere else, and I'm not as well traveled as some, and you'll know that IL is not a disc golf destination state. Plus, with the land of the 9 holer, those are counted in the course count.

Centralia is more like a suburb of St. Louis than part of Illinois, and the Gateway baskets let you know of the St. Louis influence.

Champ 18 with grass tees? That's a joke.

I might be making this part of my Peoria trip this coming weekend. Glad I played it last year so I can actually compare from experience!

If you had grass tees like a good ball golf course where you move the tee line a few feet every day, I think grass tees would be pretty good. Grass is actually a pretty good surface to tee off from. When dry I think it is better than concrete or rubber. When wet I think it is better than rubber and asphalt tees. Unfortunately most grass tees are not properly cared for (it's expensive) and they turn into dirt tees fairly quickly.

Grass tees would be a lotto dream course idea or a pay to play fly 18 style course. Of course optimal tee surface really depends on how you throw, etc. so there is no answer that is best for every player in every situation.

I have long thought that concrete with one of those slightly spongy thin textured spray on applications might be the a really good surface.

I haven't played centralia yet, so yes my opinion is flawed. So just let me say this. It is a very challenging course and it is well worth your time. And I have playd pretty much every other 18 holer in IL (new Anna Page is the other I haven't) and it is definetly one of the best in state.

And the Gilbert Brown pic was kind of a joke when I joined, and I just haven't bothered to change it since ;D.

boooo... gilbert brown rocked!  The one thing that I was sorry I tried though - the Gilbert burger at Burger King years back in wisconsin... that thing was so big and messy from the mayo and ketchup that it would have been better if I ate it with a fork and knife!

I'd spend your time checking out the St. Louis courses too, if you haven't already. From what I was able to play down there last December, they were pretty good!
