What is the value of writing your PDGA number on your discs?  Just tournament identification?

It's a way for people to be able to return a disc without having to put personal information on your disc. Most people that know what a PDGA number is will know how to track you down and will return the disc. It also serves as legal marking for tournaments as well.

Well, that was actually the point of my question.  I found a disc with a PDGA number.  From that I have the guy's name and city (not local).  However, there appears to be no formal way to contact the guy through the PDGA, even given this information.  Various web searches have yielded neither email nor street address.  Phone number is unlisted.  He doesn't show up on any of his local club sites.  It seems my only option at this point is to post a message on the PDGA site "does anybody know ..." which I am very hesitant to do.  Am I missing something here?

I put my number on my discs for Shock & Awe value.  People are shocked to see what a low number I have and then mumble to themselves, "awwww I can't believe such a low number can be that bad."

That's all that's on there, no name or number? You might post on the PDGA site (there's certainly a lot more irrelevant posting going on there), but beyond that I'd say you've got a guilt-free free disc there.

I might have put my pdga # on a couple of discs now and then, but my game is so finely-tuned that the extra micro-grams that the Sharpie would put on there would throw things completely out-of-whack.

It's different for someone like Mr. McManus, since his number is only 4 digits - back before Frisbees were round (wait, I mean discs - Frisbee is copyrighted) - so there's less weight being added there. Then again, he throws a hell of a lot farther than I do so in the end it really doesn't matter. It had never occurred to me that his number might have something to do with it but I'll take whatever excuse I can get.

I hope this answers your question, Kurt. Feel free to post others. We're here to help.
thanks,

Could I possibly play any worse if I didn't practice putting??
