From what I hear both Fly 18's in Chicago will be pulled in the next couple of weeks. I'm not sure if they will go back in the ground or not.

Both Edgebrook & Calument City are owned by Cook County Forest Preserve/Billy Casper Golf. Edgebrook opted out of their contract and Reese said he's pulling both in the next week or 2. I have a feeling Edgebrook will be back in the ground next year since they are making some good money off disc golfers.

i see no point in paying to play in Cal City when mokena and lemon lake are accessible

the demographics dont support a course in that area  (imho)

If Reese was making $ on Edgebrook why will he no longer be involved?  I thought he owned the baskets.  If so, will Edgebrook be purchasing new ones?  I am still surprised that pay to  play is working but will take your word for it.  I live very close to Edgebrook and never go there.  Also, why take the baskets out over the winter?  It might have been fun to play (free) pirate golf over the winter or even x-country ski and shoot.

Reese has his contracts written so that either party can pull out at any time. There is usually a non-compete clause but in this case there is not. Billy Casper (the company that manages Cook County Forest Golf courses) is free to cancel their contract with Reese and put their own baskets in next Spring. Reese has offered to sell his baskets to Billy Casper but they declined. They told Reese that they were planning to put Edgebrook back in next spring without him.

Edgebrook pulls the baskets because they completely close during the winter. Some golf courses have full restaurants and/or banquet/meeting rooms that they keep open all year and those courses usually will sell winter rounds to anyone that wants to play in those conditions. But since Edgebrook is closed they don't make any money. When you have golf course maintenance equipment it is pretty easy to pull baskets when not in use.
